  1. I use a slosh 30 for rock and heavy kelp fishing, and it hasn`t let me down yet. It`s also not a bad casting reel, even with 35 lb line.
  2. You could head a bit further north. Newbiggin is fishing, as is Beadnell and Seahouses. Heavy going, mind !!
  3. A herring gull at Craster Harbour, and a small carpet from Amble pier. `nuff said.
  4. Are you sure these pics weren`t taken on Amble pier? The resemblance is uncanny........not. Nice one m8.
  5. You`ll do better going north to Seahouses and fish the rock ends just south of the village. Take plenty of crabs for bait, and lead weights, though, as the bottom is rough, or do what I do and use old spark plugs. Distance casting is not needed here.
  6. If I`m fishing really rough ground, I use a rotten bottom, but also use a spark plug instead of a lead weight. This works brilliantly, providing a long distance cast isn`t needed. Just ask your local garage to keep the old plugs for you!
  7. My wife bought me a packet of these last weekend, and I`ve tried them in the sea and in the Aln estuary. Caught nowt, but in the estuary, the crabs love them !!
  8. Yup I've done quite well with them, though I would do far better if they brought out a squid or fish flavoured version. Because squid and mackerel are cheap to buy, why not just use the real thing?
  9. If you have never visited the Music Festival before, I can recommend it. Always good crack in the market place!
  10. Only shore marks worth fishing at the minute are the rock ends from Beadnell northwards. Use peelers or lug. Red cod coming from the kelp. Plenty of boat action, though.
  11. Decent fish from the Aln estuary, Seaton Point, Embleton, Sandy Bay, Warkworth beach. Take your pick!!
  12. Have a look in eBay.....LEES TACKLE & PENDINE DAVE have their own shops online, and both supply good quality gear at reasonable prices.
  13. Bloody windy in here tonight!!!! lol
  14. "Defermation of charactor".... do you mean "Defamation of character"? Spelling is the first thing to go when you get your lugs full of salty water!!! Seriously, surely it`s time to wrap up this argument before things turn really nasty and friends start taking sides against one another.
  15. Does anyone know of any mullet hot-spots between Whitley Bay and Berwick? I`ve never tried for them, and I`d love to give it a bash.
  16. A lot of new gear is featured on eBay.com ( the American site). I have just aquired a new Ambassadeur 7000B for approx. £55 INCLUDING SHIPPING.
  17. I have only fished there while on holiday a few years ago, and the pier end was the most productive. I caught wrasse, doggies, mackerel, and hooked what I took to be a conger but didn`t manage to land it! Large bass are also caught there in the summer. Almost any bait seemed to work. Good luck! p.s. Back then it cost 25p to fish for 4 hours.
  18. Thanks to everyone for the replies. All seem to come to the same conclusion, though. No-one is sure if they work or not. One reply I totally agree with , however, is from Cranfield. I checked on a US website and found the product on sale for $5.99. A bit of a difference to £8.99. Yet again, we in Britain are being ripped off. Regardless of the catching power of fish`n`strips, I will definitely not be buying any until the price comes down to parity with the US ie about £4.00. Thanks again to everybody
  19. Has anyone tried these new "Fish`n`Strips" yet? Any luck? Have they been tried up north? Also "peeler crab juice"......any good? Cheers Tony
