  1. Brilliant stuff, wonder what he could have done on a good road surface? Den
  2. Certainly looks to be an 8lber. Den
  3. Blimey, I must be getting old I forgot the Volvo and the rusty hulk of an estate car whose name I can't recall either! The Volvo was a lethal machine with terrifyingly useless brakes, I once went straight over a roundabout on the A21 at Green St Green......couldn't (wouldn't) stop. The rust box fell apart when I tried to jack it up to change a flat tyre,,it was an estate car with a corrugated roof....any clues? Aha, got it, a Hillman Estate Den
  4. Ford van, another Ford van, VW Transporter, Bedford van (with sliding drivers door) Renault traffic, and Ford Transit. then a Fiat Fiorinno van, and now a Vauxhall combi van for my fishing. Shared several company Vauxhalls with wife, also joint purchases of Range rover and grand Cherokee jeep and current "family car" is a Vauxhall Zafira. Fiat And Transit best 2..............TOTALLY reliable. Den
  5. Her writing all over the document. Den
  6. Built one of those a couple of months back. Also purchased a large plastic "box" with lid and put a S/S grid from an old fridge in it. Works a treat using a very small portable air pump (as used by pikers) Smoked Brie..........yum yum Box is now nicely coated with smoke residue. Den
  7. Same from me Happy New Year Den
  8. Get a grip Dave Things can, and do, get you down a bit, and old age and aching bones can drag you down a bit more than when you were young. Think positive, just because you don't feel like doing something today isn't a problem...............it doesn't even matter if you don't do it tomorrow I now tend to drift from one day to the next, if the tides are right I go to the beach.............not much to catch these days but "it gets me out" Got totally bored with sitting on my arse carping (who would have thought it? ) I am looking forward to warm nights on the beach at Sandwich, got a new mate now and we just chill out a bit, his life is quite stressful, so it does us both good. Also been buying a few bits for the workshop (getting ready for my old age ) one or two bits I have wanted for years, like quick change tool post and indexable cutters, both adding to the pleasure of "messing about in the workshop" Back on topic............Chris Yates................ Casting at the sun..............when I read that book it made me think that I must have met him at some time and described my early fishing life...........places I had fished and other adventures. The small ponds in Surrey and Sussex with wildies in, riding the bike to the island, all those I had done probably 10 years earlier? And the Redmire chapters really brought back memories and made me tingle a bit, so I enjoyed it immensely. Wish I hadn't read this topic now, making me feel quite old a depressed................peeing with rain here at the moment, the tides are all wrong, so best get out and chew up a bit more metal Happy New Year to you Den
  9. " I am sure that their more efficient immune system would have ensured a long and fruitful life, had they not died from sundry infections along the way." I like that made me chuckle a bit, Den
  10. I get the impression that you are finding this all very interesting Leon............I am starting to call you the "messenger of doom" See my post today Den
  11. Three and a half days with no leccy Got a friend who runs a pub to cook turkey and spuds on xmas morning...wrapped in blankets and quick drive up the lanes to serve for family (9 of us) He also lent us a portable gas heater so we kept warm enough in one room Stayed in bed this morning with the dogs until 11.30, got up to boil up a saucepan on the picnic stove and Eureka!! the power came back on 3 fridges and the two freezers have been wiped out............ Den
  12. Exactly Ken some days, actually most days, I find walking any distance painful, but who cares? Den
  13. I know a few "disabled" badge holders who are fitter than I am, so why not an "old boys" badge for guys like me who suffer from sciatica and the like? My local B&Q has about a hundred (ok, I exaggerate) disabled places, and I have to walk the length of the car park when most of these are empty. I could of course, park in one of them and probably end up having a row with one of the self appointed little hitlers that see themselves as parking attendants. Have a happy Xmas Den
  14. Give him my best wishes Peggy..........and for you as well Den
  15. Why not just brush it on...or use a finger tip........would give an interesting finish? Just kidding...good luck with your search Den
  16. Bid on 2 identical items the other day, one ended midday Monday, the other at 8pm the next day, I figured that most people would be at work on Monday noon and ended up getting it for a fiver..............the other one ended up at £33.00 Den

  19. Re the Christians, chances are that they don't have to make a big thing about it.. probably already know each others views and values, so no need to have meetings or whatever. Den
  20. By the way Ken, I think I gave you some wrong info about my mate.............he stayed in overnight for his Knee op eye was done in 15 mins and then his wife drove him home. Den

  22. Mate of mine was rushed in to hospital with sudden loss of vision in his left eye. First thoughts were that it was a stroke, but quickly diagnosed as a cataract! HE WAS KEPT IN AND DEALT WITH THE NEXT DAY AND HOME THE DAY AFTER. Vision back to normal almost immediately. Told not to drive for a few days. This happened about 3 months ago. Den
  23. I would send them back with a stiff note. 4 years wait and he still didn't get them right. Just imagine the indignation if they had been ordered fro China. Den
