  2. Just back from Etive, was up at a WSF meet, we went up past the quarry and fished along at the tree, baited up about 1800hrs and fired out mackerel/squid baits, wasn't long before the Whiting started to appear, these were around the 12 oz size, noticed a good pull on one of the rods, bent into it and pumped up a nice Codling of about 2.5lb, darkness had set in by this time so the ever faithful doggies put in an appearance after this I finally done it got my first Thornback, been after a Thornie for years As the night progressed so did the Spurdogs we were getting them up to 5lb, things quietened down for a spell then the Thornbacks came on again with a vengeance, at one point we were hitting them every cast ( not bad for someone who until this outing had never caught one )again things went quiet, then Spurs came on again for a bit. as it got light the bites tailed off, then the BLOODY MIDGES started there Kamikaze attack, so it was time to head home. ended up catching 11 Thornback 8 Spurdog 6 Whiting 3 LSD 1 Codling [ 26. 9. Hi Ian fantastic pictures, only thing I can criticize is the tails of the fish, they dont seem quite right ? apart from that they are truly wonderful....got a question for you, have you ever considered doing wildlife as in deer/stags on the hill, I know for a fact that pictures of deer from respected arstist sell like hotcakes. hope this helps john

  14. Sam I read your post with interest, dont think its macky that should get out more.... no disrespect, but its you who should get out more, I have never seen such bias towards commercials, in your eyes they can do no wrong, yes we as anglers dont do ourselfs any favours at times, but according to you and your post commercials cabn do no wrong, they dont catch undersized fish, inshore trawlers arnt to blame for decimating fisheries, myself and Davy Holt are still waiting on your reply about the clyde still showing no sign of recovery, and the inshore trawlers being blacked out and fishing the lochs at night, or about the thread on handling mackeral, where it was proven that commercial boats ditched 0000's of tonnes of mackeral that wasnt wanted. Then we have new news just in the last couple of days about 60 odd spurdog that was ditched by commercilas down south and washed up on a beach, I could go on and on. I know anglers aint saints sam But neither are commercials by a long shot !! [ 12. September 2005, 08:11 PM: Message edited by: bigdunny ]
