  1. The more you read about this young lad, the more it sends shivers down your spine. How on earth does anyone get so bitter and twisted as to behave like that and feel proud about what he's done? He may only have been 15 at the time, but it was quite clear what he set out to do was no accident. He's now moved on a year, has had plenty of time to think about what he did and still shows no remorse. I don't know what the right thing to do with him would be, but treating him as a complete human failure and removing him from our society seems to be the most sensible course of action right now. I can see in 10-15 years time the human rights folk will be making a case for his rehab and that he may have paid his debt to society. Won't bring that teacher back though will it? How can her family ever come to terms with what happened and why? I think I've convinced myself that this frightening individual should stay behind bars but be offered a length of rope on a regular basis.
  2. What? Are you sure Chesters? I'm intrigued, just what do you think Adolf Hitler did that could be classed as "good" for Germany?
  3. Interesting point, but I guess the music "celebrities" that have fallen from grace (no pun intended) have caused the BBC a great deal of embarrassment. Not just that they misbehaved whilst working for them, but that it was largely ignored by those in charge at the time. Whereas there's not a lot they could have done about history's bad boys. Mind you, they'll probably be a documentary history about Saville someday.
  4. I like hidden camera stunts generally, Trigger Happy TV being my favourite, but I felt a little uncomfortable with seeing the living s**t scared out of some of the people on this. Still, I suppose some folks would see this as hilarious. Maybe it's just me, but terrifying unsuspecting people just doesn't seem right.

Good old Ed, never has there been a more appropriately surnamed MP
  6. Heavens above, have they really got nothing better to spend their time on at their yearly showcase? This mob are hoping to get elected as our government next year, God help us!
  7. Well, if you live up in the top end of the UK, it's almost time to make your mind up. What do you reckon, are the "sweaties" about to go their own way? If you're English like me, do we really give a ****? Other than the fact that we're living through a period of history in the making, I'll personally be rather glad when it's all over. I've now had my fill of Scots angst and in-fighting. Good luck to all in Scotland, whatever the result, I just need to hear about something else now when I watch the TV, turn on a radio or pick up a paper.
  8. There's a move to prove that Reeva Steenkamp actually committed suicide by deliberately walking into four randomly aimed bullets.
  9. Maybe a little too thin-skinned Kirisute, but I agree, it certainly ain't no way to treat paying customers who could take their money elsewhere.
  10. We won't know the exact circumstances for a while but if he did it for a laugh, he sure won't be doing that for much longer.
  11. Product of our times I fear, attitudes fuelled by OK! magazine and the likes that extol the "celebrity is everything" virtue. But remember, she is only 13; what were you like when you were that age and what do you think that your elders thought of you?
  12. Cutting the grass whilst wearing shorts is a risky strategy this time of year, I have to say that you're giving yourself to them on a plate Sportsman. I cut my grass at the weekend wearing long trousers (and generally over-heating!) and cockily had just a pair of Crocs over my bare feet. Guess where I got bitten? Interesting result with the heated teaspoon though, I'll have to give that one a try.
  13. I'll guess that they're all going (or possibly coming from?) Yasgur's Farm. The first big open air music festival near Woodstock?
  14. Whoa! That certainly would have been an interesting exchange of views between the pilot and ground control!
  15. Not fished it for a couple of years (since I lived nearby) but used to enjoy the stretch around Olney and down as far as Turvey. It is a tough river to fish in places, but always threw up a decent fish or two. Some of the chub that I pulled out were cracking fish and there were always plenty of silvers. Would love to have another bash at some of my favourite spots.
  16. Anyone surprised that Rebekha Brooks not guilty? Not surprised - absolutely and utterly amazed.
  17. They can be very frustrating, but there is a technique in hooking these little blighters. There's usually a "grain" in soft pellets and a hook point needs to cross the grain to be secured. But sometimes you do get a batch that won't stay on for love nor money!
  18. Oh dear oh dear. Shouldn't be too surprised I suppose, we always expect more than our team can actually deliver. Cheer up Roy, we didn't really think you'd do anything different to your predecessors.
  19. Took me over two frustrating hours to renew mine and my wife's online earlier this year - via the (very painful) Post Office website.
  20. Absolutely, great to see them having a go. Very little safety-first football going on, most teams are going for it. Just a shame about the amateur dramatics, but I keep being told that it's all part of the modern game.
