  1. Well done for catching the pike. Can you tell me though how far it is from the lock where the fish was caught previously to where you caught it? It's interesting to know how far these fish move about.
  2. The club I belong to only allows the use of minnows, bleak and gudgeon as livebaits, which must be caught on the day from the water being fished. No sign of mice on the list at all!
  3. 6.375 seconds is my best this evening but that's after a big meal, half a lager and two glasses of wine.
  4. Does the the water you fish allow the use of mice as baits? I bet there are not many club waters that would allow this practice.
  5. Maybe one day. However, I’m no expert. The riverside though is where I like to be, which is not as often as I would like these days.
  6. Hmmm, let me guess who you’re talking about. I’m only 5’ 6’’ but I’m not like that! Some short people are okay.
  7. 15 P in a RUT I'm not too good on sport but it could be 15 players in a rugby union team
  8. Hi Haven’t been fishing for a while so I went pike fishing today on a stretch of river I’ve fished a few times before. Caught two pike, one of 9lb 2oz on ledgered sardine and one of 12lbs on a head section of lamprey. Although I don’t keep exact records of the time of day I catch pike, I do kind of keep a mental note, and the amount of times I’ve caught a fish between 9 and 10 o’ clock at the venue I fished today does seem to stand out. I’ve had this happen October through to February. Do any of you think that individual waters can have their own feeding hotspot times?
  9. What price per pound/kilo are we likely to pay for these spuds? A bit more than the average bag of reds I buy I'm sure.
  10. I think it's Tom Waits and Jersey Girl Here's another Well those drifter's days are past me now I've got so much more to think about Deadlines and commitments What to leave in, what to leave out
  11. I’m no expert on this sort of thing but could it be a boot sector virus like sandpiper said? These are usually transmitted through floppy disks. Have you been using the same floppy to format the hard drive each time?
  12. Couldn't agree more with your post Ant. A friend of mrs riverside used to send us quite a few of those forwarded emails. The ones that used to mention you’ll have bad luck all day if you don’t forward them on to at least ten people really use to p*** me off. I don’t have to forward something on not to have bad luck, I get it anyway. One good thing though is since recently getting a new computer and setting up our own emails, she gets them and I don’t.
  13. Definitely hand in my notice on Monday morning and take early retirement at 43. Stuff the Saturday morning overtime as well. Oh, and enjoy the rest of my life. Bought my tickets today.
  14. Sure enough I have had several occasions when the float shows signs of movement but not a sound has come from the bite alarm. If the float is moving then by all accounts the fish should have the bait in its mouth so why wait for the alarm to go off? I do remember one occasion last year when I didn’t hook a fish when the above happened, however I put the bait back in the same place and after about five minutes I had another indication on the float and subsequently caught a fish just under sixteen pounds.
  15. I use Microsoft Access. My knowledge of Access is greater now than what it was when I set the diary up so I would probably do it slightly different if I was to set one up now. However, it’s good if you want to filter records, for example how many times you’ve fished a certain venue etc and of course you can print it out.
  16. Difficult to actually name a favourite singer or band but I used to listen to Radio Caroline in the evenings quite a bit when I was in my early teens. I would sometimes take a radio when I did a bit of night fishing. Many a good rock band was played on Caroline, for example Pink Floyd, Led Zepellin, Yes, etc, etc. Great stuff.
