  1. Lent my kayak to a mate the other day and was furious to find it returned, covered in excrement. Said he thought it was a schitt on top
  2. No, it's usually instant, however you won't be able to PM anybody until you've made 15 posts.
  3. Good idea, but I think the surfies have this pretty much sorted. If you google surfing webcams, you should find loads.
  4. Hi Transporter, Glad to see you made over to the place where people actually know what they're talking about, as opposed to the well meaning, but way off the mark, advice you were getting about yaks over on the other forum. Ask as many questions as you like, but bear in mind that nearly everything you need to know to begin kayak fishing safely, and in terms of what kit to buy, will probably already have been discussed at length. So it's worth spending some time reading previous posts using the search forum button at the bottom of the page. I think I started at page 1 and worked my way up to the present, when I joined. It took a while, but it was really interesting to see how things developed over such a short period of time. I see you've already got an invite to the Goran Haven meet, but I'm sure you'd be able to go and check out some yaks before May (and maybe even get a go on one), if you keep your eyes peeled for mini meets in your area. I usually spend a couple of weeks in July, based in St. Just, fishing the S. coast round to the Lizard peninsula, so if you've got your yak by then, I'd be happy to meet up.

    Drysuit ?

Or you try using the search forum button, as this was the hot topic in the autumn
  6. Rock and chips is my favourite, that's why I'm so keen to give it a go. Plus it would make a day of doggies more worthwhile. Read that the reason for the ammonia is because they urinate through their skin.(P*ssing ammonia? That's gotta make yer eyes water, no wonder they look like that when you pull them up )
  7. Found this over on WSF http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/show...ad.php?p=263384
  8. Would be interested in a detailed account of how to prepare them, as I hear they're very tasty, especially on a barbie. I remember reading about it somewhere (maybe not on this forum). Think you have to hang them off a hook to strip the skin off, a bit like a rabbit, and then there's the ammonia thing, as you say SDD. Do you know any more about it?
  9. Antibiotics for a virus - complete waste of time and money IMHO (as you are discovering) Acupuncture and herbs was the only thing that worked for me last time I had a 3 week one that wouldn't go away. I was so impressed, I kept the empty bottle, so I could ask for it again if needs be -"Shi Quan Da Bu Tang " (Diddle-I-Po ) Hope you get well soon mate.
  10. Hi H. Think you were right to move off to keep everybody happy Especially as it turned out to be an all year round exclusion zone. However, as long as there isn't a local by-law prohibiting all fishing, this would only seem to apply to fishing for bass or using sandeel as bait. As long as all bass are returned that may take other baits, it looks like it's legally OK to target other species? Of course, if the local feeling was that no fishing at all was the accepted practice, because the only thing you're going to catch there is schoolie bass, it might be better to observe those self imposed rules to avoid getting kayak fishing a bad rep. A good clue would be if any shore fishermen use that mark, as they are not exempted from fishing nursery areas.
  11. Going on the basis of Sod's Law that the best conditions always occur whenever you can't make it, I'd say we DEFINITELY need a fishing meet. Sorry Stu, but your sacrifice will be much appreciated I'm sure Congrats on the upcoming nuptuals btw
  12. OK could well be up for that if the weather co-operates. What baits, rag, squid, anything else?
  13. Sounds good. Let me know next time you decide to try for your Thames marks, I'd definitely be up for it. I'm free all next week.
  14. Blackwater looks like a good place to fish, I'll have to get up there someday, but it's still quite a long way from S.London. I really need to check out the East side though. You ever fished the Medway or the Swale? (or the Thames Estuary for that matter)
  15. Will deffo take you up on that offer sometime Gareth
  16. I read somewhere that doggies were really tasty, good on a Barbie, but tricky to prepare (Something about hanging them off a coat hook and stripping off the tough skin) Anybody have a definitive guide to what to do with them? It might make a day when I caught nothing else, a bit more worthwhile.
  17. What's all this about cod being full of worms?(Sea Fishing forum)Find any in yours?
  18. She's a beauty mate Not at all jealous... no.. er...yeah
  19. You're obviously not cooking it right. Either that or your taste buds are knackered
  20. Ditto, or strapped down. But I had to learn the hard way too. Me and my crate went over the side as I was testing how far I could lean her over, while I was bungied up and getting bored not catching. Lost everything (and I mean everything - I'd come prepared for night fishing, as well) except 2 leashed rods and my anchor which got caught under a bungy. I can laugh about it now, but I was definitely not amused at the time and very glad there was no one else around to witness it I've also lost stuff getting dumped in the surf a couple of yards out from the beach, but the main probem here is breakages, as anything sticking up, like rods or night lights, are likely to snap if the yak goes belly up.
  21. Well, if you can swing it with the warden, I might be up for it, if you fancy some company. I know Darnsarf's partial to overnighters as well. I would have thought Chapmans Pool would be the likliest spot to camp. I have landed on a beach round the corner from it (towards K'ge), but can't be sure if it's always there regardless of the tide. Reckon a bivvy bag would be better than a tent.
  22. As there's no overnight parking allowed at Kimmeridge, where are you going to leave your car?
  23. No, Sit on Top kayaks are very stable. Just keep reading, you'll find out all there is to know on here
