  1. I've got to say thanks for including one of my pics for the final 6, it made my day. I took the shot of little guy while out on a freezing day fishing. He and his 2-3 buddies begged all day for maggots and bread, all i ended up with was loads of robin pictures and no fish Paul.
  2. Entry #1 My tuppence worth. Exif. Nikon 5700 09/01/2008 1/20th sec Aperture priority mode f6.7 Iso 100 Focal Lengh 29.5mm Flash : Did not fire Metering : Pattern Paul.
  3. I had a peek for research purposes. All i've got to say is : Turn around... come closer
  4. I use a Fox Avon Duo, one of the best rods i've ever bought. It's incredibly versatile, i've used it for trotting rivers to feeder fishing for carp to double figures from commercials. I like that it comes with 4 tips for the feeder, and that it's got a full cork handle (i hate duplon..) It's maybe a bit light if you wanted something about 1.25lb tc (It's 1lb tc) but it's got plenty backbone to deal with bigger fish. I think the rod might be discontinued now, but i'm pretty sure there is a new one identical to it in the range. Paul.
  5. Now that looks every inch a monster well done that man Paul.
  6. It would have to be my 1lb tc avon and a 5010 baitrunner, the combo copes great with tiddlers to doubles figure carp just fine. Paul
  7. It would have to be lobs for me i think. Is there any fish that wouldn't have a nibble of one? Paul.
  8. Entry #2 Robin. Nikon 5700 31/12/2007 Auto f4.2 Iso 100 Shutter speed : 1/200 Metering mode : Pattern Focal Length 71.2mm Flash : Fired 300 ppi. Paul.
  9. Entry #1 It's a hard life. Nikon 5700 25/12/2007 Normal Program f3.6 Iso 100 Shutter speed : 1/125 Metering mode : Pattern Focal Length 25.4mm Flash : Fired 300 ppi.
  10. Fox avon duo gets my vote too. I've had the 1lb tc version a year now, great all round rod. Paul.
  11. He sure does have an anger management problem See : Paul.
  12. I've got to say i would love to come and fish it, but for me it's the distance. Probably 500 miles or so, and with a young family, a days fishing anywhere would be a godsend Paul.
  13. My worst has to be someone elses fault A few years ago, I was fishing a well know big carp puddle. First cast with a PVA bag, just getting set about sorting the second rod when the first went flying off. Played the fish fine until it was plodding around in the margins when the angler in the next swim pops in and volunteers to net the fish. Before i could protest and give it the usual "Tis ok mate, i usually manage fine on my own" he had the net next to the fish and close to getting it in. Next thing my heart is broken, the mad netter gets the lead clip stuck in the net with the fish on the outside, next thing i know a quick swish of the tail and she's gone.... I never spoke to him, and he just sloped off. I don't want to say how big i though the said fish was, but it was pushing 30, and me, having never landed a 30, it still gets me, even now. To this day, no-one, without excpetion, ever nets my fish for me... ever.... Paul.
  14. I've built 4 bait boats for myself and friends over the years (On 27Mhz and 40Mhz, the only 2 legal wavelengths for surface vehicles in the UK) and to be honest 2 of them are sitting in a cupboard gathering dust. I built one for piking, a large beast intended for putting deadbaits out at distance, i think i used it once.... Then i had an idea to build a very small one for carping that i could easily fit on my rucksack with all my other tackle, this one i think i used 2 or 3 times. I seem to get far a bigger kick out of building them that using them (I like RC stuff ). I haven't sailed them in years. much prefering to cast wherever possible, and on the venues i currently fish, there is absolutely no need for one. And to be honest i wasn't happy using bait boats, i'd like to think i've at least a little angling skill, and using them didn't sit right with me. Paul.
  15. Edited : post made little sense after thread cleanup Paul.

  17. I've been using my PDAs to do the same thing for years, much more convenient and they can do more (they can read loads more ebook formats : lit, doc, txt, pdf, etc). I can see the lure of being able to connect anywhere and order a book, but you can do the same thing and more with a PDA, just in a more roundabout way. PDAs are cheaper too BTW
  18. I'm looking forward to the resumption of the home internationals next year, i used to love watching them years ago. Paul.
  19. Got it!! At last, it's only taken me 4 hours to sort... My router had a setting : force upstream mtu 1500. I changed it down to 1458 (i think that's what BT recommends) and everything's hunky dory again, and i'm finally on speaking terms with my PC Thanks for the reponses, they poked me in the right direction. Paul.
  20. Just gave both firefox and Opera a go, same problem. I'm assuming it must be something router side, but what escapes me... Paul.
  21. This one has me baffled, hopefully someone here can offer me some insight. I installed a new wireless router/modem over the weekend. After setting it up, got everything to work perfectly (or so it seemed). However, when i connect to ebay i cannot sign in. Even if i type a search, it just sits there doing nothing. I can sign in securely/unsecurely to any other sites including Paypal etc. But certain sites (like this one) don't allow me to sent/upload/receive data. I just tried to ask this question while attached to the wireless router. It just stopped when i pressed submit. Now i am back with a standard modem i can ask this question for some reason. To test if it was ebay/anglersnet problem, i installed my old USB modem and connected up the old wired way and it works perfectly, no problems at all. The other strange thing is if i click any links etc on ebay, or look through the forums here it works fine, just as soon as i type something and press enter the site becomes unresponsive... I've tried changing every setting in the router/firewall to no avail. It's probaly something stupid, but i've tried everything i know. Thanks Paul

  23. Pike, always been my favourite fish. Even though i seem to catch far more carp/perch/roach these days. Every year i look forward to when the mornings turn frosty, and then its big pike'y time. Paul
