Fishing weekend in Photo's.

I thought I'd post a fishing report from a trip I did last weekend. I've found that a picture speaks a thousand words so here they are.

We shot off after work Friday night and got to The Dust Hole (no, its not dusty) at around 11pm. We went staright down on to the beach and got set up. The plan was to be up early for a sunrise session. Not a bad little camp setup considering how many beers we'd had the the fact that it was dark.

We had some great water to fish and hope were high that the Salmon might turn it on for us.

We moved camp on Saturday arvo. A whole 600m down the beach. This is camp #2.

Well, we did get on to some Salmon but we had to work hard for what we got. These are two of the medium to smaller ones we got (didnt have the camera handy when we got the others).

There's always time for some wildlife.

We left on Sunday morning having not seen one other person.

Time to pump the tyres back up after letting them down to around 14psi for sand driving.

Its about a two beer job.

I had a great time and by the look on Neils face, so did he.

Good report and pictures Mick.Bet those salmon give a good account of themselves is all that surf! I tried for them last year at Ulladulla off the beach. We were using pilchards on a 3 hook rig,is that what you were using?

I take it they are a totally different species to the ones we were catching at the mouth of the river Murray last year?

Reinflating the tyres after the beach brought back some happy memories for me,recall the occasion :drunk:

Looking forward to your next report Mick

I wouldn't feel comfortable fishing from those crowded beaches, no room to swing your rod n line. :2:

Loved the piccies, you guys are so lucky. (Keep these reports coming)

Cheers 4 Now

Think the problem is that Hellbelly is not taking the fishing reports side seriously enough  Damm, you know what that means then?

Awesome photos Hellbelly. Someone has a real talent. The fishing doesn't look to shabby either.

Tight lines.

Take for need not for greed. A wise old fisherman told me and why should I argue with him?

Great photos. Could easily have been shot on the North Carolina Outer Banks too - all the way down to the rod holders mounted on the trucks.

Great fun.

There is a Western Australian Salmon and an Eastern Australian Salmon

Difficult to tell apart without doing a gill-raker count.

Usually the geography of where caught will help, but there is some overlap in South Australia and Tasmania.

The juveniles (as in your pic) are known as "Cockie Salmon" and often turn up on Tasmanian beaches. Have caught quite a few - excellent eating.

Yeah, they live well, those Colonials

Dave at the time when we were catching them at the mouth of the river Murray I think Mick may have said they were Salmon-trout ?
