All joking aside Budgie, I really think you should write a book. Same as 'Mr Bream' at Wingham. Both of you have so much experience and great stories, come on, sort it out!

I'll even edit it for you!

Maybe not big bream though :P At least, not yet :D

PS electrolux washing machine for sale, £50 ono

That would be a huge task with my spelling and grammer!

Dave (Sportsman) tried some years back to encourage me to write a "bed side story" type book on the early days of pike fishing on the trout reservoirs.Despite his very generous offer to fund and print the book I just couldnt get my head around it and put my nose to the grindstone.I did get quite a bit done (around 200 pages) but just struggled with it.Now that technical books are comming more back into demand I might try one of these pike wise and use the stories to bulk it up or vice versa. I think it was because the "time" didnt feel right to be writing on the subject. If that makes sense to anyone!

I like writing about stuff I know about but my literary skills always leave me dissapointed all though Ive noticed that often something I dissmissed as not good enough at the time of writing looks a lot better years later when re read!!

I dont know I think I would like to but worry that Ive a) got anything of interest to say that hasnt all ready been said before and B) the ability to put it down in an acceptable way!

Luke always said that the customers always told him they loved my stories and so did many when I did slide shows .Ive always struggled to see that they are that interesting as for me they are simply things that Ive experienced!

I didnt particularly like Marks Zander book among quite a few other modern titles but have the utmost respect for him and the other authors for simply having not only something to write about but more so the discipline to put it all down! Easy to nock but bloody hard to do.

I think I would realy like to do an all round technical type book a bit like Wilsons but also make it a bit auto biographical in that it would be about my ways and methods/experiences and of course stories! But I dont know if publishers (or potential customers for that matter) would be interested in that sort of "combined" format? Dont really know of a book that is like that realy to judge.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Well, I think you're putting yourself down. Grammar and spelling are easy to fix! It's the stories and experience that people want and you have both.

As you say though, a lot of effort if you're not really bothered!

But off the top of my head I can think of Queenford, trout ressies, catfishing, Conningbrook, and I'm sure there are loads more!

For what it worth Budgie, I wassnt overly pleased with the end result but the trouble is with handing over a book to a publisher that you lose control, and have to write to the "House style".

self publishing this one has been like a breath of fresh air because we have complete control - but at a price.

The offer still stands Budgie.

Exactly - it's the story and the experience that matters - the rest can be put right very easily.

Go on Budgie - you know you really want to!

Well I for one would like to see something along those lines. Technical books are all very well, but you don't really get a feel for what the experience is like. Stories/experience are always nice to read, but sometimes leave you wondering about the technical side....

Sounds like you have the germ of an idea for something just that little bit different....

I'd buy it!

i'm interested in how you get books published privately ,i'v had a couple of "speculative offers" from the angling press for my intrepid book (still a few years off yet) but strangely it becomes their book not mine.

how much would an A5 full colour c100 page book be?
