Chesters - I wouldn't recommend my own diet to someone unless I knew them well, as it was/is quite severe.

I only have orange juice for breakfast (never did eat breakfast much, anyway).

Lunch is either a small bowl (fistful) of nuts and raisins, or a plate of olives with low fat cheese and crackers.

Tea is either pasta or and a small amount of meat, or a salad usually.

Occasionally, I blow out and have something like a big BBQ.

I haven't had alcohol for nearly a year now.

I had to convince myself that feeling a bit hungry was 'normal'. We're so used to feeling full up in this country. I know my diet sounds severe, but at no point have I felt famished. I'm also full of energy, so I can't be doing too bad. Some people will always pick fault in whatever method you try and tell you how it 'should' be done, but they're the ones who don't seem to do it themselves. This way has worked for me and I can see it working long-term, as it's been about adjusting my mind as much as my food.

I was 11st 11lbs today and although I've slowed the weight loss down a bit, it's still going. I'm going to keep this up for another month, then adjust the food accordingly to maintain a weight, rather than lose more. Besides, I won't have much fat to live off by then :)

I tried on (and fitted in) a pair of 32" trousers today! I still need to lose a few pounds to feel properly comfortable in them, mentally rather than physically, but I certainly didn't have to squeeze them on.

Janet - if someone takes a pic of me in the near future, I'll post it. I'll also try to dig out a recent one of me in a newspaper, as it was one of the things that made me do this. I hated it!

I've lost a stone in the last few months through sheer hard work in the gym, 5 days a week some weeks, but I'm still eating and drinking as before....

Life is for living and beer is for drinking :) If it means I need to spend 5 hours a week in the gym then so be it

It wasn't until I started the diet and exercise that I started to lose weight. I'd been off the beer for 8 months and, if anything, put weight on!

i'v been on slimfast for breakfast and lunch then normal meal ,no alcohol as such any more no fags either (put on stone since giving up in jan) may try slimfast 3 times a day .

excercise isnt easy i cant go off cycling as my mrs wants to lose weight as well so i'm restricted to doing much the same as her with her gammy leg etc ,losing weight by doing more than she can would be unfair to her :(

chesters, I haven't looked into all the science of all this, but if you're eating less (and watching the saturated fat content of stuff you do eat) and exercising more, you will lose weight. You might not do it as quickly as I did, because I just got obsessed with the whole thing and am totally selfish about it, but lifestyle changes can only benefit you. Keep at it

Three stone is a lot! Well done.

In relative terms is that right for 5'2''?

5' 2" was when I was lying down, Peter :D
