are superglues really super?

I once tried to use superglue when float making, to stick a length of dowel into a hole bored in a shaped polystyrene body. I accidentally got a whiff of some yellowy brown fumes that were released and the feeling was indescribable. I honestly thought I had killed myself.

Was it expanded polystyrene? Try adding a few drops to some baking soda. Stand well back! Edited by corydoras

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Kidney beans ? do the intelligence crowd have something against them now or are you refering to another sort of bean (which isn't a true bean) bearing the name Ricinus communis

i don't think so. They use baking soda and superglue to repair airplane propellers and the like. Fill in the crack or chips with baking powder, add a few drops of cyanoacrylate and the resultant mixture sets ROCK hard, but the chemical reaction generates a lot of heat and noxious fumes.

Pah, poisoning dissidents with ricin tipped umbrellas is so old hat, these days you knock off your political rivals with polonium or dioxin!

I was aware that uncooked kidney beans can be dangerous but they're are hardly at the top of Al-Qaedas shopping list and I doubt that being caught with a bag full would warrent a visitation by the intelligence services/police.
