We eat horse meat in France and so do a lot of British people when they're over there

Well here is one Brit that doesn't eat it when he's over there. Horse meat is eaten in SOME parts of France, but I only know one person in my wide circle of family and friends in France and she only buys it because she is poor and horsemeat is cheap.

I do like sauccison d'ane, salami made from donkey meat. Excellent wiith nice fresh French bread and butter.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I've had it and not particularly enjoyed it. I don't think it's the right meat for tartare either.

I've not had the donkey salami, would love to try it though.

Top notch jeepsters, much better than pork.

I am old enough to remember horsemeat on sale during the war - never as "horsemeat" though. We refined British would NEVER buy horse - so it was always labelled "stewing meat" - probably from Very Old Horses.

There were skinned "rabbits" too - with heads , tails and paws removed. The last of their nine lives had expired.

Yup fox meat (which looks like prime beef) taste like fox smells ,a bet for half an ounce of baccy ,i doubt even inventive spice infusions could mask it

not sure if horse is eaten around antibes but on a trip with another worker an order of "beef" got nudges and smirks from the workers in the caf ,tasted nice whatever it was ,perhaps not horse but the usual gob of phlegm or crafty pee that's usual with restaurant food served by underpaid exploited staff (hence i never use them sober)
