I caught a fish today that I can only describe as being like an albino chub of about 3lb,it had slightly orange scales and red eyes,it was exactly like a chub except it didn't really put a fight up.does anybody know the species?or could it have actually been an albino chub  .I just wish I had taken a camera.

Try to catch it again, but take your camera with you.

Sounds like an albino grass carp surely?

Im guessing it was from a lake? The grassies i have caught often act pretty calm until they reach the net then go crazy!

Compare Capt Pelvis's very nice fish with a bog-standard grassie

Compare body shape, large scales, finnage etc.

There are small differences in the head shape, but the smart money is on a grassie colour variant.

The very large scales (Dapper's description and both pics above) would rule out any orfe/ide in its ancestry plus the fact that Dapper obviously recognised (and rejected) golden orfe immediately.
