Spodding and "The Spomb"

Spomb.......................saw this item this morning and decided to give it a whirl...fantastic bit of kit.

I have no involvement with this, but it is one of those items which make me say "I wish I had thought of that"

Works...100% of the time.

Looks just the thing I was after to solve some ultra long range spodding problems.Nice one Den.

Its hard to tell from the pics but what sort of capacity do you think it has in part pints of maggot, tins of corn,14mm boillies etc?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I reckon you could get almost a complete "normal size" tin of corn in it, or a "good handful" of boilies. It is one of those items that will become a standard for most carpers soon (and maybe some Breamers) :)

I can see a whole new market for 5lb TC "spomb" rods and matching reels as well.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Den can you summarise your experience with it? Pros cons? Looks a little big for me, maybe if it was a touch smaller?

Hi Den,

Did you suffer from false casts with this, where the Spomb did not open on the cast? When I'm doing any spodding I always cast to the line clip and feather the spod down to the surface. This means that the spod tends to land on it's side. Looking at the design of the Spomb it looks as though it will only open if it hits the water nose first. What style of casting did you use and did you have any problems with it not opening??
