Elton:

I'm sitting here wondering what makes people post to a forum.

I don't realy know some times. I do like to welcome new people, answer questions if I can, join in a laugh (cheers Peter), definately ask questions if I don't know or am unsure. Do you remember when someone said he felt stupid asking questions???

Pay compliments where they are due (when I have seen the topic).

Possibly a kind word (if I can find them) to anyone having problems. Offering help if possible or I know a man who can.

As with Peter though, some people take a lot of time and effort to answer a question and then there is not one word of thanks for there efforts.

I think that it also makes me feel part of a family and as I don't have one now, that is important to me.

Besides all that there is nothing on TV :D:D

Why do I post?.....well first and foremost 'cos it is so easy!

There was a period in the 60's/70s when I always seemed to be scribbling and then it all stopped for me.

I started to post on BFW and joined in a few of the controversies, fortunately noone insulted me and when posters had to register the standard improved.

Someone on BFW directed me to AN and funnily enough AN had a few nasty so& so's but most of the posters voted to register and it has all been good since then. :D

There are many occasions when I am unable to offer any help, specially where choice of rod is concerned, most of my tackle is a few years old, and not knowing what is available means I have to sit back and wait for someone else to offer help.

I love the banter and pleasant insults and the jokes, being a loner I dont get to hear many from anywhere else (sad) and I must try to show my appreciation more often, so look out for a few wordless graemlins.

Finally we all need to talk and for me AN is talk, sometimes a very lively discussion, but it rarely turns nasty so I am not put off.

Simply to help out my fellow beings wherever possible. Sometimes I feel that posting is a bit like peeing yourself in dark pants!! Not everyone notices you doing It. But It gives you a lovely warm feeling!!!! :o

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))
