Dodgy Middy Wagglers

Recommended Posts

I bought two middy wagglers and on the side it had 3BB+2.4's. I put this set up on and my float went under :( I then did some experimenting and found that 2.1's and 3.6's was nearer the mark :( . Then I bought a middy No2 SSG waggler. To sort it out I had to attach 5 AA,3.1 and 3 6's

Has anyone else had these problems. Also I would like to make my own floats, any web-site links on this would be appreciated.

Cheers

Martin

I've always regarded the quoted weight as merely a guide, most useful when comparing floats from the same range. I don't suppose they can ever be 100% accurate particularly when they're dealing with natural materials plus other matters like water & air temperature & stuff like that which is quite likely to make a difference. After all, who's to say that one quill is as buoyant as the next?

Plus the weight of the hook and bait, but even on an otherwise bare line, I've always found shotting weights to be pretty inaccurate :(

They did some tests in IYCF on pole rigs and the results were shocking....

FYI Drennan scored 10/10

and next up was Sensas the only thing letting them down was the fact most of the info on the packet was in French ! Other brands like Fox middy etc all scored around 7-8 out of 10 so not bad...but when you pay quite alot for a ready made rig it should be exactly that and perfect to boot !

Some of the others scored very poorly....

I read IYCF and the tests they do are excellent and very unbiased !

I now only really buy Drennan floats !!
