Does size matter

Tonight I,ve had a conversation where I,ve said I would sooner have a thirteen pound barbel than a thirty five pound carp,which to put it mildly was treated with some disbelief.Are pounds and ounces everything?

Size and quantity are like money. They only count if you want to keep score.

Since a 13lb barbel is much closer to the UK record of 19+ than a 35lb carp to the UK record of slightly over 60lbs, it would be a much more impressive fish.

 

Unless you were a carp specialist, I suspect it would be more satisfying.

And I'd sooner have a 3½lb grayling or roach than either of them!

Size is greatly overated!! For sheer excitement I would rather have a 15 pound pike in preference to a 30 pounder.

i seems to for some people ,usually at my local pond the bivvies are regulary spaced round the pond just because a 35 cat came out they are all in one corner (funny enough the catfish was caught in that corner)

i dont think the euro weights apply to us grizzelled fisherfolk ,i cant amagine a trawler captain trying to convert his catch in stones to kilo`s and if he did would his hands believe him
