Pssssst, Chris, if we give an inch we could loose a yard.

Ask yourself, what comes next? A ban on using peeler crabs for sea fish? A ban on using live shrimps for salmon? A ban on using maggots for coarse fish? A ban on returning fish to the water? Chris, choice is one thing, a ban is another.

Their policy of "divide and conquer" is working already.

And please remember, not every anti is a beardy-weirdy with a Greenpeace badge and Afghan coat - some of them wear suits and work for Government.

Tight lines,

Elton

Dividing angling? We do that pretty well ourselves! But just who, and why, were anglers invited into the CA? Dividing and conquering, now that springs to mind.

Oi Elton, watch it mate! I last shaved some forty odd years ago, pay to both Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace, and would probably still wear my Afghan coat, if the thing hadn't rotted away!

Nothing wrong with carp or pike as bait in my mind. Got some jacks in the freezer for the winter campaign already.

Better to use a two pound jack as a livebait than a two pound rudd, surely? The pike won't tangle your rig so much! Carp? Bloody brilliant - work all day. Problem is catching the blighters small enough!

The point of livebaiting? It catches fish using the things as bait that they eat naturally....

I don't know what you fish for, Chris, but if livebaiting is banned I'll find out and start a campaign to stop it!!

This extracts say it all!!

"It is regrettable too that the angling representatives on the local angling consultative body, RFERAC, should not have given more support to predator anglers. We cannot but feel that the non-predator anglers who sit in positions of authority in NW Region have happily sacrificed a branch of the sport they don’t personally practice."

"We deplore the banning of live-baits as the first step to ban fishing, although we do note the NW EA Press Release does assure us that they “stress that the Government has no plans to ban angling”. How long before such plans are tabled and which branch of angling will next be under attack, we wonder?"

Take a look at what happened to pistol shooters, but then, they were only a minority!!

When asked why they had pressed for and got a ban on shooting ducks on a certain south-coast harbour, a local activist said. "Because we thought it was one that we could win."

Yes but 1 working for the good of all anglers has to be better than several pulling in different directions.

It seems everytime someone gets fed up with a group not doing something for them they go off and start a new group, if it carrys on like this we will end up with 10,000 seperate angling groups, all fighting each other and getting no-where.

1 central group made up of say 30 people representing all types of angling, dont laugh at the figure 30 i'm sure we could narrow it down to that.

You Dave should know all about groups splitting and new versions of the same group being formed.

Dear All,

Peter Waller may indeed be right when he stated that this thread is going nowhere.

But behind the scenes, questions ARE being asked and certain plans ARE being talked about for the future continuence of retaining angling practices and anglers rights.

No, not through the NAA. Something completely different.

For myself personally, for what little good it will do now for NW predator anglers, I reafirm my stance hear and now in the defence of predator anglers to retain their "as yet" legal rights to use live baits.

I dont live bait because I am a barbel angler. But I would walk into hell itself along side predator anglers to fight along side them to help retain their angling rights and practices.

I would also do exactly the same for other types of anglers fighting for theirs. I expect nothing in return save that perhaps one day, they might do the same for me.

" Declaration For Anglers "

Remeber that well. Because you might just be hearing more about this.

That being of course, there are enough brave men left with the will to make such an idea work.

Scott,

Please email me with your concerns at trent.barbeler@ntlworld.com

Regards,

Lee.
