The end is nigh for livebaiting nationally!!!!

This thread really is going nowhere.

There really is only one course of action for us to take. If we believe we are right then we must ask, even demand, that the National Angling Allience uses its weight and support us. Angling has a unifying body, lets use it.

Nightwing:

Between this and the anti-hunting threads, I really wonder if there will be any fishing at all allowed on your fair island within 10 years or so.

It really is stunning to see such division even within such a similar group as pike/perch fisherman.

Nightwing for Sports Minister, Home Secretary, and Environment Minister!!

I find it strange that the CA got involved in the livebait issue bearing in mind that their fishing adviser is Bob James who is on public record as being against live-baiting.

Another point, I read recently that a licence has been applied for to shoot cormorants to protect an endangered white fish species, the skelly (spelling?).

DCB

Who applied for it??

It will be interesting to see if it is granted and, if granted, what the conditions will be.

There has never been a proven case of illegaly introduced fish spreading diseases.

But illegaly imported fish may have done.

I could have sworn that I stated I did not want to see coarse deadbaits banned.

However, the selfish contingent amongst us who insist on ignoring the rules and spoiling things for everyone might well have to answer for such an incident in the future. Not that they will give two figs about it anyway..!!

Perhaps Vagabond used the only quote he could find that said what had to be said. To dismiss what he posted because it is considered to be tasteless could be a mistake that could result in a similar quotation.

"they banned livebaiting, but I didn't live bait"

"they banned match fishing, but I didn't match fish"

"They banned sea fishing but I didn't go sea fishing"

"they banned fly fishing but I didn't go fly fishing"...... Pretty similar stuff isn't it.

The process is identical. Chip away at small sections of a community, and by the time the community as a whole realises that there is a major problem, it is too late.

I would like to say one thing to all members and guests on this forum. As a relatively young angler of some 23 years old, I enjoy all types of fishing. I carp fish and have a p.b. of 25lbs, I fly fish and have a p.b. of 16lb of rainbow trout. I sea fish with a p.b. of 7.5lb Bass, and i enjoy fishing for pike, with all bait types, and have a p.b. of 8lb. I AM TIRED OF ALL THE STIGMA AND IN-FIGHTING AMONG DIFFERENT TYPES OF FISHERMAN!!. Will you all please stop f*****g around arguing about wether or not the EA was right in your opinion and please realise that FISHING IS UNDER THREAT, AS A WHOLE . It doesn't matter what you beleive politically, the anti-fishing lobby is a well funded and highly motivated LARGE group of people, who will never give up their campaign to get all fishing banned. PETA alone have an annal budget of around 8 million for anti-fishing campaigning alone. So can we all cut the crap and realise that if we do not nip this in the bud NOW , while we still can, we will be too late to save the sport for future generations.

Angling AS A WHOLE brings hundreds of millions of pounds into the British economy every year, if we unite as we should, then we can easily put away any threat to our sport. If we become fragmented and argue like i have read people doing on this forum, then we are a finished sport already.
