Latin eh? It speaks for itself? Are you referring to my haircut? Can't tell if you are expressing sympathy, having a go, or just speaking in tongues..

Newt, please don't lock it yet it's just getting interesting and I haven't even got invloved yet.

Knowing both Lee and Alan personaly I find some of the points raised interesting and poigant. As a member of both the RSSG and SAA I also find the criticism of both organisations PR justified for different reasons. The SAA for the size of the organisation, membership and the brains/knowledge at it's disposal, should be doing a better job, but then again it would seem they are fully aware of that and are striving to improve it. The RSSG is totally devoid of PR and information to it's membership or potential membership and to the unitiated or uninformed would appear to be going knowhwere and in that respect Alan's comments as to Lee's agenda could appear justified. If the RSSG is to reach the vision first envisaged and to wield the power and influence it requires to fill the void that it was originally considered existed, then it needs publicity and communication to encompass all branches of our wonderfull sport, but most of all it needs members who understand it's true aims. I apreciate that a small committee can not fulfill all areas of need , but what has been done to ask the membership for help and advice.

I agree with Newt that personal comments and any abuse have no place on this board, nor does hanging out The SAA dirty washing or committee differences these should be confined to the meeting rooms, telephones, mail or e-mail.

Re: the original intention of this subject "call to arms" and the CA. I am not a member of the CA but after seeing all the collective wrangling and politics that have gone on within angling over the last few years I have a good mind to join. We may not all agree with all the principles and sections it fights for but at least it has more organisation and collective ability than anything

i've seen from the various angling assc. I also fail to see how anybody can not class angling within the collective body of countryside sports. WE hunt, we may console ourselves with the fact that we return them, but at the end of the day fishing fulfills the inbuilt hunting instinct within the majority of us. I for one would march and stand up for the right for the individual to pursue his or her chosen pursuit that has gone on for as long as history has been recorded. What right does somebody that does not even want to do it tell me I can't. Angling apathy and complacency never ceases to amaze me. Unless we all wake up and take a collective stance Hunting and handguns will just be the thin edge of the wedge, or do we just sit back and watch all of our rights be eroded one by one without lifting a finger in defience.

Brilliantly said Peter. I've been away on holiday recently and missed this post.

It's ironic that whilst driving to work this morning I was mentally preparing a post to this forum along exactly these lines.

Let's (anglers) steer well clear of the blood sport fraturnity (sorry I meant "Mudering Bast@rds as it's certainly not sport). I for one have very strong (best left un-published) views on foxhunting. Those that partake in this vile passtime are even too embarrassed to call it such these days, it's now been re-named to something like Fox or Vermin control. Absolute B@ll@cks, it's just an excuse for the fat, over-weight, arrogant, pompous gits to spill blood.

I went to the Lowther show whilst on holiday in Cumbria and some of the stuck-up gentry wandering around looking down their noses at the likes of me and my better half beggered belief, all dressed to the nines in Barbour wellies & tweed jackets and talking absolute ***** to one another. One was even heard to comment about my 14 month GSD pup "Fancy bringing that thing here". Fortunately for him, my better half would not allow me to introduce myself but I think my verbal outcry was enough to let him know how I felt about him and his sort.

They only want anglers to team up with them to gain The support and credence of Joe-Public. Would they get off their steeds to support us I think not.

Stay Away on September 22nd. Why not arrange a Fish-In in your area to show our lack of support and show everyone we want nothing to do with these people.

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.

Oi, whats this about us fat blokes then

Us fat gits pop up everywhere!

Just a thought, have you noticed that users of bivvies tend to be less fat than those who sit on sky scraper style tackle boxes?

Not the ones round where I fish Peter. Seems to me that it is almost compulsory to be a fat, beer swilling, crop headed and noisy (mallets?) type person (politically correct).

Of course there are exceptions,

Den. :)

PS I almost forgot, claiming benefit also helps!
