Tony, I got off my bum and went and bought some maggots. 10 on a No4 hook (no hair) one of my method feeders with maggots mixed in the mix, 4" hooklength.

 

Almost standard tactics for me :) catches almost any fish :)

Thats a good positive attacking tactic and it obviously pays you well , nice one :thumbs:

I presume their dead maggots in the method and on the hook ?

What kind of method mix did you use ?

im being cheeky asking for your secret ingredients :D

Tony, maggots are very much alive :) part of the tactics is to use quite a stiff mix so the maggots take a while to wriggle free. If I am being twitched by rudd then I recast every 40 mins or so.

 

Method mix is 3 parts Skrettings coarse fish food and 1 part ground vitalin, mixed fresh each session. Left overnight it goes a bit to stiff for the maggots to be able to fight their way out.

 

No point using deads is there?

 

Back later, off to catch some more now :) :)

Came back down to earth with a bump today. Snowing when I left home, strong East wind. A couple of other guys had turned up, but left "the swim" empty for me........lovely bunch of fellas :) Water temp dropped almost 2degF in the space of 2 hours.

nice fish the pond i go to has just the two so the odds are stacked in their favour
