Cyclone Yasi...Some wag wrote a message on a window guard..." Kiss my Yasi"

Cairns missed the main blast, but Mission Beach copped the brunt of it with winds hitting 285 km/h. No deaths recorded. 125,000 homes lost power.

Various stories coming in and not as much damage as had been originally thought; people took a lot of notice and acted accordingly.

We, just NW of Mackay got a tail swipe but nothing more than 85 km/h winds and only 67 mm rain and we are 600 km south of where the eye hit. There was no damage to any buildings

The wallabies, ducks and lorikeets are out and about, looking for their breakfast.

Still not nice, I know Toowoomba, Maryborough and Gympie well from a bush trip a few years back and watched them get clobbered last month and now see Mission Beach and Tully (where I spent a very happy couple of weeks - and caught my first barra) getting it.

Lets just hope the reports of no loss of life are right.

Glad to hear you're OK, and it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Still not heard of any deaths at the 8.30 AM news.

Lack of deaths and injuries, and minimal damage (although even that minimal is still pretty severe) - says a lot for the collective good sense of Queenslanders. They had time to prepare, and in the main used it wisely.

Watch out for all that water on its way to the sea though.
