spindle, i know its a bit of a treck , but i can put you onto lots of grayling if you fancy a day or two in south wales.

ive still only caught one barbel, (thanks to graham elliot Steve Pope and John Found, and of course Darrell Cook). Keith Truscot lent me a lovely rod for the day, well i actually had the rod for nearly a year, thanks keith :D .

There are so many fish to catch and so little time (and money) the list is endless you think you know the ones that you would like to have a go for and then someone catches something strange in an unheard of place. My ideal job would be a sky presenter like Paul Young (Oh to be paid for a job like his)never mind I can dream. Back to reality this year I went on holiday from Guernsey and had a quest to catch a barbel which I did at Aldermaston after watching John Wilson. I had a terrific day on terrific waters with good friends. What more can you want?

I have never caught a barbel! But then I never was one for fashion. Not that that is the reason. Regretfully there are non in the Norfolk Broads as such. The Wensum is connected to the broads but these attractive fish don't seem inclined to migrate & colonise the Southern Broads which is my neck of the woods. Trouble is I have pike to 30 plus, bream to 10 plus, roach to 2 plus, carp to 30 plus, dace to 1 plus, perch to 4 plus (they are back on Oulton Broad - whoopeee), catfish to 30 plus, big chub, big ruffe, seatrout, gudgeon and trout all within 30 miles of my front door, so I have lttle inclination to travel for barbel!
