Update from France

Well, we've been here around 9 months now and I am loving it.

We originally moved into a rented house in the Lot et Garonne to see how we liked the area but earlier this year we decided it wasn't for us so we moved further north and rented a house from a friend until we found what we really wanted. well, I think we've found it :)

Today we signed the papers on our new home in the Loire, about half an hour from Le Mans, we move in September.

There are some pictures here:

I like it because it's convenient to the shops, at least that is what I told my wife. ;)

I don't think she noticed the garden pond, which BTW contains roach, rudd, tench, perch, chub and carp, how big remains to be seen.

Now, about that AN French fish in :P

Oh that looks absolutely terrible mate ;) Oh well the sacrifices some have to make eh?

I think an AN fish in hosted by yourself would be great fun.Ive still got access to an account with Sea France so can get discounted crossings so lets see how many would be up for it?

Any excuse for me to go "home"!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

The missus' family are about 1/2 hour west of Le Mans.

I'll bring my gear when we visit in August!!

From having to spent every Revellion there for 20years, I'll vouch it's bl**dy cold in winter!

PS Budgie, SeaFrance is insolvent, under le revue judiciale, they won't see out the year.

That's a shame not heard anything from them but then again all the correspondence goes to Luke. But I can ask a fishing mate who does ferry bookings through his Bureau d' change in Dover what the best deals are now if we get an idea of numbers and dates etc.

I don't think the fish in my lake would justify the trip but I am sure we could arrange something on a couple of local fisheries like this one

or maybe this. Not so local but a lovely spot and dave and caroline are really nice people.

We could maybe combine it with some river fishing on the R. Mayenne not too far away. Big roach and plenty of bream with tench and some big river carp.

As you know Budgie the problem is when you move away from the fisheries it gets harder to find a venue where you can fish at night.

My feeling would be early spring before the holiday carper get going. The fish have been rested over the winter and should be in good form.

I think we could have some fun :P

BTW ats, yes there would be a barbecue. It could follow the match held on my lake :P
