To be held at Kingsley Sports Centre Redditch, Worcs, two quid to get in.

 

Anybody going to this? I've been thinking about a cane trotting rod for a while now and I guess this sort of fair would be a good place to have a look at rods/prices. Should be plenty of 'pin porn too.

Been meaning to go for years Rusty and this year I think Im actually going to make it! Going up to see Mum and brother at Redditch weekend comming so should be there!

He will be the one cradling a big catfish across his lap you are silly at times Chris ,I have a cpuple of old reels in the loft no idea if they are worth anything though ...one is a wooden centrepin and one a smaller version made of metal and bakealite [spelling///]i believe ,Wana take em up and see what they are worth??

You will of course need a wooden reel to go with the cane rod. A nice Coxon Aerial perhaps

Yes if we could meet up before Sunday Steve. Might be difficult, I'm not around Saturday and I'm off to Warsaw for a couple of days on Wednesday. Last time I was in Poland right next to the Vistula River I didn't see any anglers.

 

I'll be taking the Witcher to the fair and playing the "found in the loft" routine, it'll be interesting to see how the trade values it.

I remember Alan Roe was doing a casting demonstration at the Prince Albert open day several years ago and after his demmo he let a few people have a go with a coule of his rods and reels. Anyhow one complete plonker dropped Alans rod and reel onto the rocks, needless to say Alan wasn't to impressed, so just be carefull who get their mitts on it

Yea good plan then you can jump up and down and say to the dealer that you are from watchdog and you will expose him on national tv as bounder if he does not sell you the split cane rod half price .

Alex still does not understand why you would want to buy a rod that is broken

i might be going just for a look around and gawp at the aerials ,not sure where the new place is ,as i've only ever been too the old sports centre which was easy to find .

Needless to say since that incident I went out and bought 3x Marco Cortesi reels for that purpose it may not stop people dropping stuff but it reduces the cost when they do!
