Thanks for taking it the way it was intended mate and when I'm up your way or you want to come down to Kent than I will gladly show you how to do it.It really isn't that difficult but like a lot of things far easier to learn when shown.

buddy; in life if you cant admit your wrong or you dont know then your gonna struggle! LOL! id rather admit im wrong and learn to be right!

if things are explained correctly and knowledgably then understanding blossoms! thats where alot of forums fail.....

things are not explained or just turn into flame wars....

you explained reasonably and knowledgably...ergo i see no reason not to accept your wisdom :)

yeah would love to get some more pike fishing done...its the same old thing though..getting the time to do it..with the Norfolk Broads barely 20 mins away and Pensthrope Pike match every year and barely 5 mins away..and also sneaky access to the lakes of the Sennowe esate (walk across the road!!) i really have no proper excuse!

LOL I'm a bit of a tackleshop's nightmare

All I really have in my tackle box is a selection of floats hooks and shot!

There's a couple of feeders rolling around the bottom of my bag just in case the weather gets so bad I give up on the float fishing, a couple of barrel type disgorgers for smaller hook and a small pair of forceps for larger hooks.

I prefer to keep things simple :)

you sound a bit like me....people keep asking if i want tackle shop vouchers for birthdays..i tell em i have more than enough tackle....there are only ever about 3 floats in my box i use regularly...the odd thing if i lose one up a tree i go and buy the exact same float again to replace it...rather than just using another one of the hundred in my box! LOL!

I have

A coarse-fishing large bag

A pike-fishing ex-service haversack

A (sea) boatfishing bag

A shorefishing bag

A fly-fishing small shoulder bag

A wicker creel for when I am catching trout for the pot.

A box for overseas fishing tackle (fits into a small travel bag)

All are stuffed with tackle. Although I turn over a new leaf every three months and sort everything out, and resolve to be tidy in future, after a couple of trips they all degenerate into a horrendous mixture of artery forceps tangled with three different sorts of line, last session's hand-towel, a rig or two that have escaped their packets (I am always tying up rigs and putting them in plastic packets to "save time" - they don't - they just escape and tangle up) lunch wrappings from last session, a burst-open box of spinners, plus a camera strap, all looped round the reel seats and handles of the spare reels.

There is one rule - whatever I want is certainly in that bag, but it is in the far-bottom corner and needs several items taken out before it can be found.

The only way out of it is to travel light - rod, reel, net, unhooking mat in hand, whatever tackle I need in pockets :)

Mines similar to Vagabonds;

I have

A coarse-fishing large bag for when I want to take all my feeders, floats and all my other related items of tackle.

A Small Stream Roving Bag carrying the bare essentials.

A Pike Bag with all my Pike gear ready to go.

A Seatbox containing all my Match fishing Paraphernalia

A Carp Bag full of Carp fishing Paraphernalia

A Sea fishing Bag with all my shore fishing tackle bits.

I may have lots of duplicate items of tackle in each bag but all I need to add is bait, something to eat/drink and my camera.

Quick thought on the gag issue.

From his description i dont think it is a gag. I suspect it could be one of those mouth gripper things the americans use to hold fish by rather than our old fashion spring loaded gags.

Will now duck quickly.

everytime i catch a fish i'm lucky when i blank i'm a hopeless angler.

:D Keep up TT he's all ready (by his own confession) been found guilty and hanged by the Pike Police! (all though a last minute reprieve for good atitude and a willingness to learn was issued)

Now whats all this talk of Boga Grips then? were watching you closely mate! ;)

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

nope definately not! wouldnt ever use one of them! they look awful!

its similar in shape/form to this:

http://www.pmgtackle.com/sm_images/Dennett-Pike-Gag.jpg

but instead of being made of metal and thin like this it looks more like plastic pasta tongs?obviously withoutn the grabbing bits.... flat cross section type of thing? and the mouth sections are covered in ruberised padding....if you get the idea? ill try a hunt out a piccy...

if not ill see if i can find the offending thing and take a piccy...been awhile since ive been in the pike kit anyway..could do with a look through

A Bogagrip?

Don't like them either :D Paula used one on holiday before to hold a Claris Catfish. It was the first time I had seen them close up and got the feeling they might be ok for lightish fish but would not be to good for big fish if used to take a lot of the weight. Can't say I saw an visable damage on the Claris, it was a lucky fish as it must have been the first one ever to go back in the lake we where fishing as they apparently make good eating and never go back.

I would be interested to hear what our US friends think of the old Boga's.

Stephen
