CENTRE PIN REELS

Just saw the photos of the Aventa...

My word, I have seen hugely expensive, American saltwater fly reels, for tarpon and the like, looking a lot more garish and aggressive than that. Not many, though, mind.

"What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically...?"

all this talk of centrepins is making me want to get my hand in my pocket! the only rod i have which may be suitable is a drennan superspecialist 1/2lb tc, would this be ok? and the 64,000 dollar question......... how will a centrepin enhance my fishing? i never trot as with a fixed spool its more hassle than i can be bothered with, so i know thats one reason to get one, but why else?

To refer back to Newt and the original question by Spanish style.

My answer is the Okuma adventia Pro......He is better buying a decent new reel that will not let him down rather than chase round e-bay for an older centerpin which is liable to be of dubious quality.

Jeepster if you enjoy fishing rivers then a pin will enhance your fishing pleasure.

Yes to whoever asked the question Richard Carter went off working in the F1 industry and now enjoys the pleasures of a regular income and holidays!

Finally I will end my contribution to this discussion by offering as ever if anybody wants to learn how to use a pin or Wallis cast then feel free to get in touch

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical

minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which

holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd

by the clean end"

Jeepster,

Playing a fish, particularly a large fish, on a centrepin, is a revelation.

Once you go back to any other type of reel, it's a bit like .... well use your imagination!

Which one? And if you do decide on when, click on http://www.tacklebargain.co.uk/ to buy it (no 's'). Same site, but Anglers'Net gets a cut

I did not get on with the KP wooden one at all.
