Well said Ken.

You have put into words what no doubt a few of us have been thinking.

Find a nice norfolk girl Mark.

What are your intentions mate if you were to go over there. Has she said she would love to come back with you to England?

Perhaps she can pay for the flight to see you and maybe you can pay the flight back if things do not work out.

Love works when both sides are willing to put themselves out. I am sure she will be willing to pay half the bill.

Just a suggestion

Hypothetically, Yes, I would Mark. But in reality, especially after talking to Mesi, no. Fishing is part of me, taking it from me changes who I am, but as regards short-term money gathering to enable me to 'go to her', big fat YES, everytime. My most treasured tackle is worthless except to me so that's no worry either

Same goes for the kayak, motorbike and car. I'd live in a tent to get to her. You may all vomit now

RE: Kens point, yes it's a possibility, you know this Mark. Go there though, just have your wits about you. If it goes pear shaped, buy some cheap gear and make Vagabond proud and the rest of us jealous!

Talk soon mate.

Andrew

I know two English men who are married to asian women so it can work out. They are both married to Thai's however they both spent a lot of time abroad and met their partners on there travels while living abroad and both had learned some Thai and was at least fairly aware of the culture. One now lives in the UK with his wife and the other lives in Thailand.

I also know a friend who had an online relationship and he had some issues around money, tickets etc no need to go in to details and never ended up seeing his lady face to face in the end. So it's never clear cut but I would suggest getting to know some one in person when you meet them in person and the relationship develops from that is different to an online/phone relationship. I also know people who have met a partner on dating websites and so there is no standard way to find love. I would just suggest be aware of all possibilities.

Absolutely. I was trying not to take the P but if it is for real, jump at the chance of happiness - just be sure to jump with both eyes open.

a work mate who didnt have any tackle at all married a Filipino , all was well until he went home one night and she had gone with most of his things of value ,theres no fool like an old fool please be extremely careful of online romances.

a week later he (and her ofcourse) were "in love" with yet another one ,we never found out what happened he went off to work at AWE and i expect a few russian girls instantly were in love with him for other reasons

as for selling tackle for "love" done it more than once ,i can eat roadkill and live in rags but my love shouldnt so money needs to be raised to avoid it

I dread to think how much love Tinca would get if he sold all his tackle. Poor old chap, I think it might finish him off :D

Fishing is the most peaceful & solitary group activity a going. Every watewr is different every day, thanks for that as same would be boring....

The Far East/Asia is certainly a great holiday destination and well worth a visit if you get a chance but as others have said you just need to keep your wits about you.

John made a very valid point whats wrong with a good buxom Norfolk lass :D

What ever you decide, good luck.

Stephen

Good luck ND. I do side with others when I say maintain caution when getting involved in situations like this. Just take the time to be 100% sure (or as close as you can get) before you sacrifice too much. If it came to my wife and child I would sell everything I owned for them if I needed to or if I was truly in love with someone and knew they felt the same I would move hell and high water to be with them. Love can be a powerful emotion however and can prevent clear thinking hence rulings for crimes of passion etc etc. Your situation complicates things somewhat as none of us really know the ins and outs and it would be rude of us to ask.

I hope that whatever you choose to do it works out for you.

P.S. Once things were sorted I would of course buy all my tackle all over again. I could never give up fishing forever and no one should ever ask you to.
