Opening scene from Full Metal Jacket :D and the puppet show scene from The Sound Of Music :) . Also the opening scenes from Saving Private Ryan and the battle scene near the end of Platoon. :(

There are so many great scenes, ones that stick out straight away to me are:

 

Shawshanks Redemption - The realisation that Andy has escaped, and not topped himself.

 

Goodbye Mr Chips - Opening scene, when hes late.

 

Picnic at Hanging Rock - The search for the girls

 

Planes Trains & Automobiles - Waking up in bed scene

 

Something About Mary - (loads) especially the resusitating the dog scene

 

Whiskey Galore - Church bells ring to signal its sunday

 

Star Wars - ANY

the fight in the quiet man

james stewart in its a wonderful life which showed how life was without him .

when old yeller died i still cant bring myself to watch it

the scene where Linda lovelace is in a room with 3 men, she goes down on her knees and.........oops, silly me, you meant mainstream movies.......

in that case, the scene on the cross at the end of the life of brian, singing always look on the bright side of life, classic Monty Python :D:D:D
