The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I confess that when i was very young, a mate and myself booked a holiday in Greece.

We were both dehydrated after the flight, both failed to drink enough in the day, both drank to much on the first night and both got rather caught out by the additional strength of continental beers.

I was p1553d but fine but my mate acted like a tit and hopped over the balcony (ground floor) and made several drunken and half naked trips to pilfer from the back of the display in the local shop.

It was packed up and being taken back with a rather shamed expression when he bumped into the local shop keeper the next morning coming to make a call. It could of course have ended up with both of us being in a lot of trouble but fortunately, the shop guy accepted my mate had just been a tit and could see that he was in the process of returning everything so it never went further.

Being drunk is no excuse for stupidity but it goes to show that there can be multiple factors that result in tourists getting drunker and acting dumber than they normally might.

As I mentioned elsewhere, young men do a variety of stupid things for a multitude of reasons, often completely out of character ;)

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity

Alcohol + Youth can = Stupidity

You can also replace youth by humans in that equation, Rob. Young folks don't have a monopoly on stupidity.

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
