All,

Have you seen the Iphone 5 panorama feature. Pretty cool. And to think it's just a telephone.

Phone

yeah new iphone looks pretty sweet...'course there have been apps out for ages on the 4 and 4s that do brilliant panoramic stuff anyway...but to have it as a built in fully polished features is pretty sweet!

to be fair; though ill certainly upgrade at the end of the month; i dont feel the "need" to upgrade this time round as i did for the original iphone4.

truth be told the iphone 4 is still an awesome piece of kit that functions superbly well for everything i do on it.

pda's? what are they? do they even exist anymore? heheh

Well you won't be able to make phone calls or access the internet if you don't have a signal, but everything else will work. They can do 100s of things that a ten year old mobile phone cannot do. A smartphone is to a PDA what a Sinclair Spectrum is to an IBM mainframe. Think of one more as a pocket computer that you can make phone calls with.

Having said that I wouldn't buy an iphone, I wouldn't buy a USB cable if it had an Apple logo on it.

I was like that with apple stuff before my iPhone. Now I have to confess im an iOS convert! Still loathe macOS and don't understand why macs are so expensive and certainly would never buy a mac.....

But iOS? Different story, I'd reccomend iPhone or iPad over any similar product on the market, anyday.

If you gave me on free, I'd punt it on Ebay and buy something else.

CORY Cory cory,

It must be political not mechanical - your reasoning. My daughter's MacAire blows away anything I've ever seen. Even my computer repair man was impressed. (I "caught" some virus to the tune of a hundred fifty bucks.)

What it does is "home in" on the 21st century stuff geeky kids want and use. 64gb/1tb

Technical, not political. I don't like closed proprietary hardware. It goes back to one time when I wasted about two days trying to add a second IDE drive to a PowerPC based Mac a few years ago. The bloody thing could "see" the second hard disk, but would not let one initialize or format it. We eventually discovered that it was not working because the Mac IDE controllers had a little ASIC on them that prevented the machine working with anything but a MAC IDE hard disk that cost twice as much money as the much better Seagate model we were trying to deploy. Keep your MacAir, I'd much rather have one of Michael Dell's XPS 14 Ultrabooks any day of the week.

I'd get a 14" screen rather than a 13" screen.

I'd get a Core i7 processor rather than a Corei5

I'd get a 500MB SSD rather than a 256MB SSD

I'd get 8GB RAM rather than 4 GB RAM

I'd get a chassis machined from a single block of aluminium

I'd get a built in HDMI port and I'd be £200 better off

No competition.

AHH but does everyone use all the bits not on ten year old phones?

music is music

a camera in the case of a phone is not a great camera (mine is a fair by its age 3.2mb but i never use it) probably its only use is for ogling the dead or such on the spot "needs" and in most cases an oldie like mine is fine

keeping records ? most have "office" type software as standard

appointments as above

plenty more apps can be downloaded but how many times can actually use them? mine has barcode reader software and other stuff but its never used

my old storm does for me the only downside is this version has no WIFI the next one did.

rather than PDAs being extinct them and phones merely merged ,PDAs got phones and cameras and phones got bigger screens to act like PDAs.

on the other hand i kinder like tablets but not so good on the pocket nor fit in most :D

my old storm cost me a tenner when apples do other than edible ones i may go more modern
