Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I'd agree with most of the top 10 as being well up there, although John Lennon & Princess Diana certainly wouldn't be in my top 10, and one of them wouldn't even be in the top 100!

I personally voted on the web site for Darwin, but that may be because I know more about him than most of the others. I'm actually looking forward to watching the series, particularly when Rosie Boycott & Allan Davies try and make us believe that Diana & Lennon should be in the top 10! Should be quite interesting!

Quite how Beckham, Robbie Williams, JK Rowling, Tony Blair, Boy George & Michael Crawford made it into the top 100 escapes me though - must be related to todays news item about the percentage of people who could name 5 world leaders as opposed to 5 Eastenders actors!

opinions, living or dead, are entirely coincidental.

How about an Anglers Net 100 great Britons?

I'll kick it off with Horatio Nelson.

Didn't know he was a member of AN :D

As a fellow Norfolkman let me be the first to say cheers and welcome Horry

I would have voted for Henry the 8th.

If it had not been for him, everything might still belong to the church and we'd all be paying tythes to the local Bishop.

My vote would have to go to John Logie Baird. A true pioneer whom shaped the world we live in today.

How the likes of Tony Blair, David Beckham, and Boy George are in the top 100 I dont know, there achievements havent made any real difference to our lifes ... when you looka at names like Alexander Graham Bell, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Dr. Alexander Fleming and of course Charles Babbage.

A lot of people credit Edward Jenner with discovering the inoculation technique of avoiding disease, but it was in fact a farmer who is buried near Swanage that first had it work about 20 years earlier. His name was Benjamin Jesty.

How many other 'inventions' were ideas that had been stolen from others. Perhaps some of the 'great people' already mentioned on this subject here and elsewhere, were not so 'great' after all.

For me as an Engineer it has to be

Isambard Kingdom Brunell HE is the man ??

Now if we are talking Angling Forums chesters is the one and only.

Beckham, Robbie Williams, JK Rowling, Tony Blair, Boy George & Michael Crawford are not fit to lick the boots of Brunell or chesters.

Darwin and Izzak Walton may get in the top 10.

Bob Nudd, John Wilson not even in my top 100,000 angling experts :D

What about the Harrison fella who sorted the Longitude problem out. The modern world really started moving when people knew where they were!

And he went to his grave unrecognised. His son got it sorted with King George. That's a real hero for you.

Eeeeeeee older I get the better I was.

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow - creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
