You haven't posted a link or a photo but either way, the answer is "No".

 

There are some very good multi section rods on the market but telescopics are a wast of money.

My first ever rod as a nipper was a telescopic rod so I feel quite nostalgic about them now. Not nostalgic enough to go and buy another one though!

 

Like it was mentioned above, there are so many good quality budget rods out there nowadays that I feel that telescopic rods are a thing of the past possibly.

Telescopic rods still have their place when space or rod length is a major concern. They will never compare in performance with normal one-piece or 2-3 piece rods but they can be good if you use a backpack or bicycle to carry your gear when you travel.

Sorry, I disagree with most of above posts, telescopic rods most certainly have their place, it all depsends on what they are designed to do.

 

Take a look at these, if you tried to make a put over / spigot version in would be to heavy with a terrible action:

I used to have the DAM black panther Pike teles and they were great rods for stealthy suff...have a couple of wychwood tele carp rods that i used to use on the boat and they are not half bad either ...have a shimmy exage multi piece carp rod and lure rod which have a better action but not by that much.

I would say the tele lure/float fishing rods are a waste of but bait fishing ones i have used ain`t that bad...just my take mind

We are not putting it back it is a lump now put that curry down and go and get the scales

have I told you abouit the cruise control on my Volvo ,,,,,,,bla bla bla Barder rod has it come yet?? and don`t even start me on Chris Lythe :bleh::icecream:

I don't mind telescopic rods and have used a few over the years. They are convient for travel, it's really a matter of what you plan to use them for. If it's messing around catching exotic tiddlers then they are just the job and some of the spinning rods can land some decent sized fish. If planing to do some serious fishing then I would recommend a multi piece rod.

 

Telescopic rods will never compare to standard rods but they do have there place.

I couldn't even muster the energy to take a telescopic outside to smash it to smithereens. It would be as much a waste of energy as it would be obtaining one in the first place.

 

Never seen a nice one, held a nice one, wanted one or even considered buying one. I'd rather buy the flu.

telescopic rods can be great fun! look at my sig after all! :)

Shakespeare make some really good ones.

in the end you need to just be sure your buying a decent enough brand and that the rod will handle what you want it to.

but without a link to what your talking about no one will offer an opinion other than their assumptions on what your looking at!

however at the same time; as has been said; you can get 5 section rods that are the same size as telescopics when broken down and they are also superb bits of kit: some will cost more money but some you can get quite cheap...I have an Avanti 7 section waggler that only cost me £15 and its brilliant!
