Not conventional I know, but I've used this rod (9 foot version) for just about everything from light sea fishing to barbel fishing, with a lot of lure chucking along the way. The only thing I wouldn't use it for is light float fishing. It's a joy to use and 4 equal sections makes it handy for travelling.

I've also just ordered the 10ft version for heavier fishing :)

Miss my old 2lb hutchy spirolites which i sold to buy new gear and my old drennan legermasters, which i sold for the same reason. BUT!!!

Love my new 1.75 daiwa barbel special, Its awesome and powerful, ideal for the big severn, love my 1.75 greys prodigy barbel as an allrounder with very forgiving tip and through action and, love my old daiwa powermesh specialist 1.25 for roving on small rivers. Have a pair of knackered powermesh 2.5 pike rods which are also the dogs. Cast deadbaits to the moon on those. The 3lbers are far too stiff and hence sold! Also like my Fox zandermasters, ideal for the job and for floodwater barbeling on the severn.

Whilst my favourite rod for general feeder fishing is an old DAM Multipicker - I just like using it, I have a real fondness for 3 Des Taylor designed Silstar carp rods - I caught my PB carp on one of them, but mainly because they used to belong to Alan Taylor, on of this forum's genuinely good guys, currently not in the best of health (to put it mildly).

Get well, Alan.
