Should we join forces with the Countryside Alliance?

Newt- I respect your comments, and your right to have your say, but..

Killing something to eat is one thing, killing something for fun/pleasure is another. If that's how you get your kicks, fine. Just don't expect it to be legal.

It is my belief that angling is tarnished by association with the CA and foxhunting, and the further away that angling can distance itself, the better.

Just my opinion.

Peter, so how do you square this "objection to the ethos behind the hunt" with the ethos to catch fish? For my part, they are one and the same thing

Peter, turn to BBC Teletext (page 145) Right Now

One of the "posts" says

"Now that fox hunting is banned, we should extend the ban to ALL forms of hunting, like fishing and shooting"

It is no good trying to distance angling from fox hunting

In the eyes of the antis there is no difference.

In the eyes of the gullible general public there will be no difference

In the eyes of many who hunt, shoot and fish there is no difference.

Do you feel guilty about livebaiting ? and is this condemnation of hunting an attempt to divert attention from it ?

Angling will be next, however much it tries to wash its hands of fox hunting.

I don't have a problem with killing for a sound and acceptable reason Den, but I do have a problem with killing simply for pleasure though.

I do kill fish to eat, but I take no pleasure in doing so, nor do I celebrate the kill.

We've been down this path before Den. Clearly we disagree with a mutual passion. Should we leave it that?

Do you not mean "should I leave it at that?"

Dear Newt,

Comfortably for Americans, their politicians actually defend American rights and freedoms. Some of ours literally go out of their way to destroy ours!

Personally, I don't give a flying fig about a fox getting hunted. I also don't give a flying turnip if a foxhunter breaks his neck galloping after one either. Which just about sums up the general opinion of the British public on the subject if truth be known. Most are interested in more boring topics such as law and order, or having a job, or enough money to pay the bills and life’s little luxuries. Having good health now that’s another issue far less important than the hoo haa Shangri-La world of Pete’s fox hunting.

The plain fact is Newt, guys like Peter "USE" the "oh so cruel" cobblers against the Countryside Alliance because that’s the ONLY weapon they have at pathetic attempts to discredit them. Let’s not forget, fox hunting has been officially banned now so where’s the perceived threat of "anglers" joining forces with "fox hunters"? Legally there ain't any now so that old potato gets boiled straight away!

So what’s going to be Pete's next criticism of the CA then? “They are meddling in anglings affairs?" So our boys are doing a great job then eh Pete? Like they can't all sit around the same table for more than one year at a time!

Do me a favour. Admit it Pete, the CA totally outshine our collection of playground fall outs and have done so since the day they were formed.

The Countryside Alliance has stood the test of time so far. Now how many different names and attempts have we had at "unity unity unity" so far eh? Err, loads. How many succeeded? Err, none actually. That’s NONE Pete.

So come on Pete admit it. Your mobs crap and the Countryside Alliance ain't.

Got free tickets for the hunt ball this year Pete fancy coming? Or are you going to your mobs disco again? I hear they've booked "Dead Loss" and his orchestra.

Regards,

Lee.

Good grief.

trentbarbeler: "Comfortably for Americans, their politicians actually defend American rights and freedoms."

You know, you might get a more balanced perspective if you removed your head from your anus once in a while..

As for the rest of your diatribe, words fail me..
