What a great way to drive some businesses out of business and we all certainly believe that the councils are using all (or almost all) of the funds to improve road conditions.

My take on this,

DONT break the law and you wont be given a fine. Simple as that, moaning bloody motorists get on my goat. And while i am on a roll, ANYONE found parking in a disabled bay without having an appropriate BLUE BADGE should be given a hefty fine.

Was at Asda the other day, yet again a flash toerag in his range rover pulled into a disabled bay, got out and walked over to the store, no badge in sight. I looked at some more cars, five more without a permit.

Slap a £60 penalty on the buggers, that will sort them out, or better still clamp them and then a £200 fee for release.

Bloody moaning motorists and illegal parking gets my goat, especially those that park on the pavement, tosspots. :hammer: :hammer:

spare a thought for the motorist who scratches his card out wrong or parks in the wrong business bay. Or all the motorists queuing up in and around london because there is no longer any yellow hatted traffic wardens around to assist the motorist in thier time of need. In it's place you have parking attendants skulking around the side roads issuing tax collecting tickets, to those who committed such a serious crime as detailed above. Then as Newt intimates the councils don't give too hoots about local business's as long as they are getting their cut. I got nicked for putting two wheels up on a curb as it was a dead end and very narrow. Parked the following day as the tax collectors insist on or else and got me car done in. I spit on 'em.

I agree with you 100% there Andrew. My father is disabled and can only walk a short distance and I regularly have to drive him to the doctors or the clinic. At the latter, there are 6 disabled parking bays close to the entrance, but often these are filled with cars with no blue badge displayed - usually mums taking their kids for check-ups. I've sometimes parked right across the entrance to two of these bays, blocking the offending cars in, and I refuse to move until my father has come out from his appointment. If they go for the receptionist (what's it got to do with him?), I start going on about arrogant B******s parking in disabled parking bays, expecting said disabled people to walk the length of the car park (or further if they have to park on the main road). Then I still refuse to move until my father has come out after his appointment.

Class

The thing is at our hospital the car parking is ran by a private company. You have to register the blue badge number with security so as not to get a parking penalty.

But they seldom send any parking personnel to check cars. SO one time we went to an appointment for my mother in law ( wheelchair bound )

The car in front of us got the only disabled parking spot available. My missus drove round and i asked her to stop. I got out and checked the car that had just nipped in, NO BADGE. I had great pleasure in going into the reception and informed the appropriate person. Within 5 minutes there was a security chap complete with parking tickets. He slapped it on the car, a £60 fixed penalty fine, which went up if it was not paid by a certain date. Ho ho ho.

Trouble is ghe blue badge parking principle only applies to highways ,on car parks (even council) the only rules are how the owner enforces them.

The local hospital has a whole row of "disabled " bays but theres no sign only those with blue badges have the use of them.

In aldershot the co-op has a really strict code only cars with disabled (free tax disks) tax disks AND a blue badge can use them.

This was no doubt introduced because people were using blue badges they were not entitled to use ,the stupid way the blue badge is displayed is open to missuse

I know a few "disabled" badge holders who are fitter than I am, so why not an "old boys" badge for guys like me who suffer from sciatica and the like? My local B&Q has about a hundred (ok, I exaggerate) disabled places, and I have to walk the length of the car park when most of these are empty.

I could of course, park in one of them and probably end up having a row with one of the self appointed little hitlers that see themselves as parking attendants.

Have a happy Xmas :)

Its based on ability to walk ,unfortunately "and I have to walk the length of the car park when most of these are empty."

Precludes you by your own statement from getting one (wink)

Trouble is a fair amount of blue badges are awarded for acting as its also up to the council who gets one outside of the mobility part of DLA .

You maybe able to get one for a reason outside of mobility but i doubt angling god has little sway in most council offices unfortunately

https://bluebadge.direct.gov.uk/directgovapply.html

My head bailiff has just got one for his misses as she is partially sighted but to balance it out only asked me last week if she should get free presciptions ,seeing as she is 75 and he has never cottoned on theres a box on the reverse to tick has been paying for her meds for a great number of years needlessly ,the gov is the last to come forward with good news but i would have thought the chemist would have told him!

Although now sporting a blue badge aldershots co-op is out of bounds as he pays for his tax disk as the blue badge was awarded outside of the mobility section of dla (esa)

F. You want to park closer in supermarkets buy a kids car seat and park in the mums bays ,the only qualification needed is unprotected sex which is a choice unlike being disabled in most cases

Supermarket disabled parking facilities are for those who are less mobile. As far as I'm aware, none require that a blue badge be displayed.

Of course, there will always be those who extract the micturation but this assuption that they shouldn't be used by anyone without a badge is just silly.

Andrew, would you still be so filled with bile if you found out that the Range Rover belonged to a pressured carer of a desperately ill child who is rushing to the in-store pharmacy to collect a prescription? How about if it was someone with a severe impairment which is to short term to enable them to qualify for benefits or a badege?
