Watched the new Lone Ranger movie last night. It's much better than it's poor reviews and cinema reception might lead to to believe - and laugh out loud funny in quite a lot of places.

Watched Elysium last night.....won't be getting those 2 hours of my life back anytime soon!!

Utter tripe!!

Now about to slam Sanjuro into the DVD. I fear I've given up hope on modern cinema!

No mention how they kept the atmosphere.

Another film loosely based on odballs with tech and the skill to use it with little more than a bent screwdriver and a rusty hammer

Still it beats poxy kids with tech that achieves anything they need it to do to get to the end of the film ,been watching doctor whos sonic screwdriver doing more than screwdriving i expect

In the film was there a sense of racism? All the earth dwellers appeared to be mexicans or at least spanish (or Portuguese?) speakers and the rich white classes in their gated community looking down on them

Now about to slam Sanjuro into the DVD. I fear I've given up hope on modern cinema!

That's a shame. After sitting through After Earth and Oblivion where the stupd was so dense that I coudn't bring myself to care about the plot, I was hoping that Elysium would be better as I currently have it on order.

I do have Kick Ass 2 and RIPD to watch too but have yet to find the time for them.

 

Akira Kurosawa is I suppose a good fallback but it's hard to find someone who thinks that a four hour black and white epic with subtitles makes for a good night in.

Kick ass 2 will disappoint i'm afraid ,the good part about the first one was the young kid trained as a hardened killer ,now she is older that bits lost and it becomes a mediocre reflection of the first one

Not into japanese cartoons but the mrs bought a wild thornberries dvd for the grandkids i will certainly watch

Watched grudge match (Stallone & De Niro) and lone survivor (Mark Wahlberg) recently both good films nothing overly special but certainly entertaining.

oh and Bad Grandpa made me laugh but it only works if you enjoy the "jackass" style of humour.

 

Kickass 2 is ok as far as beer and pizza movies go but as chesters says is a bit of a pale comparison to the first (although there are some good moments in it)

 

RIPD I liked but is very comparable with MIB unfortunately, however luckily it isn't blessed with Will Smiths wooden acting.

Just ordered a handfull of classics from Amazon including Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society and A Fish Called Wanda. They cost pennies used from Amazon Marketplace and weven with the postage, most come in at under £2.

Crossed off my list then. Saw 12 years a slave, canny movie. Not as hard hitting as Django.
