New licences

Ordered mine online on 21st and received in post yesterday.

I keep mine in a fancy soft John Lewis ticket/card holder (along with club tickets) that has pictures of Carp (Cyprinus carpio) on it that was given to me as a present, TBH it is very handy having licence, club tickets and car park permits in one place, on occasion I have arrived at a water and then gone elsewhere or set off for a water and ended up elsewhere but had correct tickets with me!

I also keep the email sent by post office in a folder on my smart phone - it is unlikely I will forget to take the phone fishing with me - therefore I always have something to refer to if checked by an EA baliff - an event yet to take place in 32 years of coarse fishing - 29 of them requiring a licence that I have always purchased!

Since my one blew out of my tackle box, shot halfway across the lake and sank I've taken to laminating it together with my club ticket and bailiff card.

My licences never did turn up and so I called the EA this morning, they gave me the licence numbers over the phone and agreed to resend them.

Why do you need to sign into the Post Office site and does anyone ever remember their pointless password from one year to the next?

Presumably servicing the website keeps a number of computer nerds off the street.

 

Jumping through hoops and passwords are pretty pointless in this context, I agree.

 

Ask the PO and they will tell you Its all about "skurrity an' 'dentity feft innit"

 

I would just love someone to impersonate me and buy me a salmon licence.

Whats more worrying is despite it being illegal some keep records of the three number "special" number on the back of your credit card ,i had to cancel a new years rac policy that had recurred behind my back ,i was livid but the practice is becoming more common ,your subscription is renewed unless you cancel it !!!

 

The. Only way they can do it is have that number or its not possible without your input,either that its a direct debit with no previous paperwork which is suspect as well ,the banks appear just to cough up

It doesn't seem to. When I eventually got logged in (fourth attempt and after going through their password recovery process), they pulled my address through but I had to put all the payment details in from scratch.

I can see a login/password feature being useful to businesses or regular e-bayers who are sending out and tracking multiple parcels but for once a year on-line sales it's a proper PITA.

I put my payment details in again, but the card I used last year had been replaced, so I wasn't sure whether that affected everyone.

 

Still no sign of the licence, by the way, ordered 20th March...

I wouldn't worry about it. I've been stopped on a day when I didn't have my card (the only time I've been checked in the last ten years) and I just showed some ID, gave my name and address and they were able to check the database remotely.
