Why this thread keep poping up without any new replies then? Fed up with it so thought I would add one!

So Dav 3 have you been any more ,have you caught much and more importantly have you learned any thing from the fishing or this thread or seen the point we were trying to make?

If you are doing ok the fine,if not you are more than welcome to come down here and for the price of a few live trout have a day or two with me.I definately aint an expert but have been doing it a few years now so could show you the basics and how to catch a few.Despite my initial dismay at your attitude to starting piking I must apologise because at least you posted asking for some information before you first went, which is far more responsible than many I see.

With all the teach ins I had this year I didnt get round to putting one on for AN but will try to do one at the start of this years comming season.Mean while anyone on here is welcome to a days piking.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

just tested out the poll. When you vote on the poll regarding tackle to use , the topic as a whole goes back to the top, so I would assume every poll now entered will have the same chance of reappearing without any comment on it. Magic is'nt it as Paul Daniels used to say "you'll like it, not a lot but you'll like it"

I went last Sunday for a night and had two pike during the night one 19lb 11 ounces and the other 20lb 4 ounces. Both nice fish. I'm affraid I have no pictures because the camara I took had dead battries and it uses those l-ion battries so I could noy buy any replacements. Couldnt sleep in the day so was completed shattered monday. -_- .

Anyways cheers for the advice it was great help.

i use 15 pound sensor for my piking and there are pike present to 35 pounds where i fish. never had any snapages, and taken them to 28. then i use 2 3/4 pound prodogys as i never have to present a bait furthur than 45 yards. suprized somone voted 10-12 pound line but supose its more of a thrill with lighter line. :)

If the weight of the fish was the only factor then 10/12 pound line would be strong enough. Back in the days of yore we all used Mitchell 300s, simply because there was nothing else. Anything greater than 12 pound b.s. and you had problems with line spiralling off spools and kinking. No, never got broke by a pike.
