..............where can I get one?

 

I need a couple of new clips for camera straps, I don't want a carabiner clip, (seems to be the goto clip these days) I want one exactly like in the pic.

 

It's difficult to know what they are called - the best I've come up with is "Spring gate snap clip/hook" - but searching google or ebay doesn't bring up much of any use.

 

This one came off an old dog lead, but those all have different type clips these days which I don't want.

To be honest, it looks a bit too short and fat to be ideal, but it's as close as anything I've seen.

 

I think I'm going to have to start searching junk shops for old dog leads.

 

I found these on ebay, but they look really cheap and nasty, and the proportions are different.

idealy new ones should be made with marine grade stainless but its just a strap!

Junk shops are still looking favourite, at least we have plenty of those around here.

Not exactly sure on nomenclature of swivels, if you mean these below, they would be far too fiddly to get on and off and I wouldn't be prepared to hang 2.5 kilo of camera and lens off one.

I know them as "lobster clips" or "snap spring hooks" or just "snap hooks"
might be tough to find exactly the same as what you have but there are plenty that are similar:

bottom link is US but it will give you something to look for on ebay possibly. most common use for similar ones these days is on ID Badge Lanyards. which I where I bastardise and nick all mine from!

You need to move to the "old west" that looks like a "round rope snap swivel". Used in all sorts of animal husbandry. (My terminology may be "off" too)
