Why are most anglers white?

I float !

Not sure if it's because I'm white or because I'm just a bit of a lard arse though.

In my neck of the woods we have a large Anglo-Greek community, non of which I have ever seen fish or sail. Same colour as me!

Sounds like Peter has it. It's not color as much as cultural and , to some extent, where one was brought up. Grow up in the dead of a large city and chances are your past time will be greatly different to those that have someone who has fished and were willing to teach you. Find a forum where people will share their experiences and freely share their knowledge, you just might learn to enjoy.

You learn what you see. Alan Fawcett's girls fish greatly in part to his patience in teaching them and the desire to spend time with Daddy. Initially I fished because it's was an obvious love in Newt's life. Now it's a part of my life, too. I'm already greatly looking forward to our next carp fish in at the end of June. It's not where you live - it's who has an influence on your life. Before he knows it, Elton's Erin will be fishing with him, too.

And I always thought most carp anglers were so white because they spend all that time hidding out of the sun in bivvies?

Not here in the States, that I've observed, Budgie. We sun burn with the best of them - or at least I do.

Can't see it has anything to do with where you live (Talking UK here)

In my experience it would seem that the majoroty of anglers live and work in cities/towns.

As to why there are few coloureds on the banks, well I don't know and it seems that so far no one else knows either :)

Peter and Budgie, plenty of carpers enjoying the sun today...shirts off...shorts....not like them pinky pikers :)

Forgot to mention earlier, my beautiful mixed race children all fish from time to time. My six year old girl was only asking the other day "Is it warm enough for night fishing yet Daddy?"

I guess there are always exceptions, but as far as I am aware it is scientific fact. It might explain why for instance, many Negro Caribbeans positively dislike swimming, despite being surrounded by one of the world's most beautiful seas.

I would love to see a link to this 'scientific fact'.

If I lived in the Carribean, you would not get me in the water too often. I'm kinda wary of Nobby Clarks and like to keep out of thier environment.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
