I have used the Sea match ones as well (bent bit of wire and a bead thing), and also found them to be pretty good.

I have also found that when using clipped down rigs, I lose less rigs through the hook getting snagged if I use a clipped down (swivel at the top of the trace, clip at the bottom) rather than a clipped up (swivel at the bttom of the trace, clip at the top) rig.

That may only make sense to me, but does help!

Norrie:

I thought that was what they fitted to my car when its in for a service...

In the Gambia, when ground fishing, that's just what they did use. Where they got enough of them from is a mystery, as we found the local taxis VERY reluctant to replace their plugs - some were struggling along, misfiring on three or sometimes even two cylinders.

When our taxi went from three firing plugs to two, the driver stopped at a garage "for new plug". We thought that was just Gambian English, but no, it was literally true. Lamin the driver bought just ONE plug, and used that to replace the worst plug, "cleaned" the others, and away we pop-popped!

There was just ONE door handle to open four doors, but that may have been to stop customers doing a runner.

Guest jay_con

ive had a few emails and pm's about the ones i make.

I buy a reel of wire from mcneils country store in ruswarp nr whitby (not sure if they have a web site) it costs roughly 3 pound. ill find out the gauge next time i go. i cut a peice approx 3 inches and bend it into an s shape with pliers. i then close one end to make a loop. i snip the other into shape. the end product is exactly the same as some on the market. i tie one to my trace and attach anther to my lead using pliers to close the eye. using 2 gives 100 percent release. using one only gives about 75 pc. i use 18 pound line as the week link. my mainline is 30 pound

ill try get a pic on here to show u them. if anybody wants a few email me and ill send a few in post.

the wire also comes in handy for making lead loops. save u a fortune in the long run.
