That one looks nicer I think but why would anyone risk using such a thing when landing a fish? Add a bit of flow to a decent barbel and you're asking for trouble in my opinion.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

I don't have a good track record with modern ones and have always thought of cane as being quite strong.

How about one with a spike. Might be handy, you never know.

,,,and I have various bits of East India Bamboo, like in Lutra's post

originally a 12 ft 2-piece Dover pier rod for casting 1lb weights into the Channel tide-race

Top joint became a curtain rail, bottom joint converted to a conger gaff back in 1960 (but never used) still leans into a corner in the garage.

Any interest ? Perhaps I could bring floats and gaff to the Wingham auction !

got a few hanging around somewhere i use a celluloid one (or did until i broke it this very second looking at it) as a hanger for my headphones at my pc ,fricking people making me look its been there for years !

a bamboo pole is just bamboo but get your blowlamp out for five minutes and its "collectable" or old school ,most "old school" i had were broken into many bits as they were crap there was only so many times you could cut splintered rod rests and reglue the brass spike back on before it was just a bit of bamboo
