Needles Area Catch Report

Woke up at 4am to hardly a breath of wind and decided to head to Keyhaven.Rigged up including the sail for the first time and launched into the darknessneedleslaunch.jpg

paddled up towards Hurst Castle and noticed someone calling me from the shingle bank--couldn't recognise who it was then on the VHF I hear richi richi richi this is SpeciMan---He'd camped out on the beach like he said.I waited for SpeciMan to ready himself and we made our way to the Needles together. We made really good speed and reached the Needles in around an hourneedlesspe2.jpg

paddled through the needles and anchored a short distance off on the south side in 70 ft of waterneedlesmark.jpg

SpeciMan was the first one to get a biteneedlessped.jpg

but it turned out to be a doggie that got off at the surface

about half an hour after I got a P.B. starry smoothoundsmut.jpg

soon after conditions were getting a bit rough for our liking so we headed back through the needles and tried our luck at a mark off Totland bayneedlespe4.jpg

we didn't stay there long-----too much tidal pull.Decided to paddle back towards Keyhaven and we tried for a while for a flattie with no joy

returned as the sun was dropping, roughly 15 miles covered,no Cod but thoroughly contentneedlereturn.jpg

Would like to say a big thankyou to SpeciMan for his excellent guidance and company :clap:;)

Nice one Richi thanks for putting the report up and coming along today. When I put the tent up on the shingle bank last night in at least a force 6 I thought I'd have zero chance of fishing the Needles today. Fortunately I wore ear plugs got some sleep and after seeing you paddle right past me on a still morning I knew that I'd be heading down there after all.

There was quite a swell out there today!
