britain is a collection of 3 countries (strictly speaking the UK is four) you cannot be born in two countries at once (unless theres a bit of border shenanigans by your mum) therefore no one is british by birth only residency and then second to country of birth ,i am not british just english but clumped together with foreigners as a convenience because some government officials cant spell Scotland or Wales.

the Scots are proud of being Scots

the Welsh proud of their Welshness

The english become british because being proud of being English seems to be un PC nowadays so much so both other countries that are not english can put forth and back laws that only effect England just to teach the english a lesson.

 

most of the world know what English and England are! strangely though its being downgraded to just british here.

in some countries anyone speaking English are English ,so much so its good to pretend to be Irish to avoid instant death.

If foreigners in distant lands know what England is why are those living in the Effing place not allowed to be English in anything but place of birth

How many immigrants live in your IMMEDIATE neighbourhood?

If the immigrants decided to empty your favourite fishing spots for food, are you going to let them?

Do you agree that ALL immigrants need not learn English, as we must spend OUR money having all leaflets (especially the DSS ones) printed in their language?

Do you agree that the economic immigrants on our shore DESERVE to be paid by the DSS

until they decide to get a job - if they ever do?

Very fair comment Kleinboet. I must agree with you , i find it ridiculous that immigrants are not prepared to intermingle and abide by our rules (we have to) . My uncle is a security guard at a cosmetics warehouse just up the road and is littered with immigrants , anyway , end of shift came and the usual security checks were in place for the leaving workers. My uncle called one of the immigrants in for a search and the worker ignored him , so he shouted her, no answer , after my uncle actually took the worker in to the gatehouse for a search, she was found to have numerous high street brands up her coat. After being frog-marched up to the shift manager and being instantly sacked she left the site in tears shouting some foreign expletives , and ohh the papers are involved , as the female worker is claiming discrimination against the company on the grounds that she didn't understand what the security guard was asking and assault!! to be continued..........

Save your sorrow I am proud to be English I was born here I have an English name, my parents were English and yes I love this country. I have served in the forces, and would defend my country.

 

However like you I am also British, and along with the Welsh Irish and Scots who are also British.

 

Your rant in that post was such that all PC's could 'f'' off because you were sick of carrying the tax burden of these nations that form the British Isles.

 

So am I assume now in your world it is PC if we call ourselves BRITISH? Perhaps you were feeling sorry for yourself that both you and your wife have to work to make ends meet? I said that I and my wife have to do the same, with the huge financial burden of having to house three adullt sons, but I not likely to blame the Scots Irish Welsh or anyone else am I

 

I am so pleased that you have a true English friend in Imran, why you should divulge that to me I am not sure, perhaps to prove to me you have no negative feelings about other cultures which is fine

Not getting your way on the English issue you now bring up British, well I do not feel that needs to be explained to you any more as Chesters1 seems to have covered all the bases.

 

Just check how much central Government expenditure is made per ca pita in for instance Scotland, it is far in excess of the expenditure in England, fair well you may say yes I would most definitely say NO.

 

I brought up my friend because you made an inference in you last post that names may indicate Nationality, IE the introduction of Murphy your slyness was not lost on me or anyone else I would expect. That is why I divulged that information to highlight the absurdity of your point.

 

Finally once again you throw your backhanded Racist attack at people by inferring that I only did refer to my friend( your word is true my word was best you should stop putting words into peoples mouths) to shroud my real feeling towards others. Very bad form for an Ex-serviceman.

You are assuming that I do have any experience of living with anyone born outside Britain. and if I had then my opinions of them would change, what nonsense For what it is worth I was born in Bristol, a multi cultural City I have worked, served in the forces with many different cultures. I am not 'wet behind the ears either' So I have a few years behind me regarding life experience

Lets just say we are ions apart when it comes to certain issues regarding this subject. I do not intend to get into a slanging match as it would be pointless, sure things are not perfect as far as immigration is concerned, and there is need for the right controls. I also believe strongly that immigrants should intigrate, and be more tolerant and understanding of our cultural heritage, and laws.

 

Of course I would not stand by and see our fish taken for food, and anyone doing so should be prosecuted irrespective of race.

 

Like it or loath it we are a multi-cultural society, and as far as having any literature in any other language other than English does not offend me. It is all about education really, perhaps if we state in their language they cannot steal our fish, or spit / urinate in the street then it will serve it purpose.

 

As far as Tewkesbury is concerned we do have rather a lot of migrant workers, due to the Vale of Evesham, so yes currently I am exposed these economic immigrants. Now you live in Cheltenham, and I probably no Cheltenham better than Tewkesbury, and I am surprised to hear that you have to deal with vast amounts of immigrants in that Town, certainly goes against what I know.

Can I refer you to my KB posting I can't really understand some of your points, but it might help to explain my position.

FWIW that is how I was brought up, British first, being a Scot came second. If I am abroad and I am asked where I am from I say that I am from the UK.

Rabbit, I would LOVE to have you as a neighbour, having all the kids (multiracial) kicking the ball at YOUR wall, knowing you won't complain.

As far as your comments on multiracialism, let me refer you to the USA. Whilst not being the best example, no matter what you say about it, it IS multiracial! And the ONLY language that they officially use is ENGLISH. You are required to learn English - if you break the law "I didn't understand" is NOT an excuse.

Yet thousands apply daily to be allowed in that country. Not all get in. As an instance, if you have a criminal record - no matter how trivial - you are automatically denied entry!

As far as printing ALL official documents in this country in the immigrants own language - I am outraged at the total waste of public money. It was shown on television a while ago where an Asian woman claimed "I won't learn English, why should I - they publish all the forms I need in MY language, or give me an interpreter" but the money she is claiming is British!

yet you say you welcome to an attitude like that, as she is not the only one to think like that!

I have never in my postings said that Cheltenham has "deal with vast amounts of immigrants" please do not infer what I haven't written. What upsets me is walking in to the borough offices to be confronted with THREE large pamphlet holders with the pamphlets printed in umpteen different languages. This could be condensed to a rack above the desk if Enlish ONLY was used!
