There is only one reson for this preposed bill and that is money! As said by themselves and i quote , "To capitalise on the economic potential of the sport".

And who drew their attention to the numbers of sea anglers?

There are numerous ways of looking at this license thing.

Firstly until recently informed I assumed the the course and game license not only paid for it's self but raised money to re-invest in inland water ways. However from recent comments it would appear that this is not true and it does in fact loose money. With that in mind I would hardly think any government would be stupid enough to embark on a sea license with a view to filling the coffers.

So it could be down to controlling RSA activities but I feel that policing it will unlike the smoking ban which has been cited as an example prove to be a lot more elusive. With the smoking ban there were millions of non-smokers that could be relied on to snitch on smokers who flouted the rules. However with sea fishing there are those who part take, those who like to observe whilst strolling and those who do not give two monkeys what ever goes on, this leaves very little room for obtaining keen snitchers.

I personally think the whole idea of a RSA rod license has been totally misconceived because it will not work unless it has the full co-operation of at least 50% of RSAs.

In order to obtain that co-operation there has to be a very large carrot which is currently missing and means different things to different areas. Down here and on the south coast the Golden Mile would be a starter, however it would appear from comments made north east areas don't want a Golden Mile. Bass fishermen who are in the main sports anglers would like to see bag limits coupled with commercial restrictions where as the north east again do not want to see bag limits of any kind.

Then we come to the SFCs and what a disaster they are proving to be. Having been put in place for the benefit of commercials in the first on set; getting some form of new look seems to be impossible. Again if a RSA license is introduced we would without a doubt require a proportionate shout on events which effect our sport, again without that I can see little hope of succeeding with the license.

PS should this not be under conservation and politics ? :whistling::fishing1:

The commercials

I don't believe that Stavey. My understanding is that it was the RSA reps that came up with that one.

Why the f**k would a commercial give a damn about how many anglers their were; at least until a couple of years ago.

I've read the fishing news for about 20 years now and its only in the last couple of years I have seen the RSA/commercial crap rear its ugly head and its all been RSA driven ;)

BTW did any of the apology letters that RSA reps sent into FN after getting their facts wrong ever appear in a medium most anglers have access too? ;)

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I give up!

This is perhaps the most important discussion topic, potentially effecting all sea anglers and the post has been moved to an area that very few frequent.

This aversion to anything with a polictical or conservation bias, which is seen by some as polluting the general sea angling section, is akin to censorship.

Sorry guys - I hereby relinquish my membership to this forum.

Best wishes to you all.

Yeah i agree with you steve it is a little pathetic but it does show that the average uk national is frightened of he's own shadow nowadays and is determined to bury its own head to everything, pc measures like this for instance just helps it along a lttle further, cheers and good luck to you.
