I actually read the source article. There are two couples that are highlighted who have some bizarre beliefs, but the bigger concerns was the proliferation of solar farms which are impacting the natural landscape of their community and possibly their home values-- they get no value from the solar farm. Which does bring up a good debate, infrastructure that has been seen as a blight has been put into poor communities-- there are already 3 solar farms surrounding their community-- and not wealthy ones. While this might be clean energy, it can be perceived as an eyesore. So instead of the author demonstrating his bigotry, he actually could have done some reporting.

Unfortunately this may really be true. If the quotes from the Manns are accurate I'd guess they had read and believed an article in the National Report which cited a Wyoming Institute of Technology discovery about the dangers of solar panels sucking energy away from the sun.

 

Problem is that the National Report is a satire publication and they invented the Wyoming Institute of Technology for their article.

I maintain unlike incandescent bulbs fluorescent tubes "suck" dark from a room ,turn on the switch and the tube sucks any dark in the room inside it and stores it.

How do i know ? Look at an old or dead tube and you can see the dark has accumulated at each end ,once its thick enough to stop the electric working the tube it stop working.

Edit: I pretty much agree with Chesters1. It's about 50/50 if light is the absence of dark or dark is the absence of light.

There are some sites which seem to overstep the line between "satire" and "making crap up for clicks". Don't know the National Report, but there are a few sites publishing entirely fabricated articles which aren't clever enough to be satire, they're just aimed at dumb people.
