Normally the sails would be opened out to stop the wheel rotating in the high winds. Obviously someone forgot to do it, or they just wanted a good video for utube.....

Seems a hell of a coincidence that the camera was running at the right moment..

 

Maybe they knew there was something wrong and were waiting for it to "take off"

 

Imagine the sight of one of the old post mills getting destroyed by a gale.......

Apparently the pictures come from CCTV, the pictures of the aftermath are taken with a handheld camera.

 

I have a friend who is a Fireman in Scotland and he tells me that they are often called out when an "arm" drops of some of the windturbines. :rolleyes:

Still a whole lot safer than a nuke station going t*ts up :rolleyes::D

 

Which of course they do on a regular basis - not.

 

If you looked up the stat's nuke is probably safest of all. A coal or gas turbine plant is hardly inherantly safe.
