I have to admit that my first reaction was to say "let the silly bi*** stay there, it's what she chose" - but who among us can really say that they didn't make any stupid decisions at age 15?

 

I think on balance I'd still *vote* to keep her out, but I'm not sure she should be vilified out of hand without at least a chance to prove genuine contrition.

I have a long history of stupid decisions but none of them have involved treason or severed heads.

I thought Ken Clarke made a fair point on Any Questions the other day - we deport foreigners who we consider undesirable (usually people who have committed serious crimes) and we get very upset when their home countries try to wash their hands of them.
