john dory, caught and released monday, few miles off chesil...apparently only the 2nd one chris has had on "peace and plenty" to date.

 

thought it maybe of interest. Fell to a 2 down mackerel/squid bait intended for whiting.

A bit of an odd fish but they are regularly caught while float fishing worms on the north coast of Jersey in the summer.

They are quite nice to eat but I have always put mine back so no comment.

Some divers dislike them, they loom out of the dark on night dives.

A friend of mine has seen one schnorkelling, he said as he swam round it it maneouvred to always stay head on to him. The father in law had one last year, they're most often caught round Guernsey by anglers after bass & flatties with live launce, the telescopic mouth simply hoovers them up.
